Is there a way to clear alerts list? I couldn't find.

@Sagittarius
The number of days to retain viewed and unviewed alerts is configured by the forum administrators.
I have no idea what these settings are.

It appears that they cannot be dismissed or deleted by a forum member.

Selecting the Mark read checkbox may “inch” them towards the trash can, if for example: auto deletion after 30 days?

The long list of alerts is enabled by default.
You switch off most or all of them via Your account…

The previous UI showed the new thread posts since the last visit at the top of the forum list with NEW clearly evident. The new UI doesn't differentiate new unread posts from older ones without filtering. And the filtering doesn't persist across visits.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to somehow distinguish threads with new unread posts?

I seem to have no data under my avatar, and it's showing me as a new member when I've been here for over 20 years. Also, my posts are being moderated for the first time ever. What gives?
Apologies about this, it's affecting a few older accounts. We're looking into it.

We're excited to have finally launched the new forum system and get you back in to continue your favorite photography discussions. Thanks for being patient with us during the migration period and the uncertainty it produced as to what everything will look like at launch.

Even with the extended time our team took to review the forums top to bottom, as with any new system being put in place, quirks and isolated issues are bound to come up.

As of Nov. 6, 2025, here are the current known issues:

Top Issues

  • Photo galleries are still being processed (some photos may not show yet)
    • Some of your photos may not show yet.
    • Your profile menu will show a 'Photos' and 'Albums' tabs when there are photos and albums. If you do not see it and know that you have photos and albums from past uploads, those photos and albums may still be processing.
    • Navigating to your galleries at first may be a bit slow
  • Embedded YouTube videos are still being processed (some videos may not show yet)
  • Data for some older polls is still being processed (some poll information may not show yet)
  • A new feature to display EXIF on images embedded / uploaded to forum posts will launch soon
User Interface
  • If you are receiving notifications for activity you never followed, unfollow it if you wish and check your notification and follow settings to not default to follow.
  • Timestamps are in 12-hour format. We can only set them to 12-hour OR 24-hour currently, but will try and find a way to give you all an option to choose.
  • Clicking "Edit" on a post sometimes does not work (for now, open the link in a new window)
  • The main DPR website menus may still show the notification flag and direct message bubble, pointing to the old structure. Please ignore this and use the forums directly.
  • Direct Messages may show as unread even though they've been read before
  • Some minor UI positioning needs when the forums are viewed on mobile devices
Display and Style
  • Some large photos embedded in a forum post show up as an attachment link instead of displaying the photo
  • Some style contrast concerns over how light certain text and elements are against each other
  • We are working on a way to make it more clear that private photos are actually set to private
Utility
  • RSS feeds not all working, especially per-forum section
Some menu options to select multiple items should pop up a menu bar at the very bottom of the screen. If you select a button like "Select All" and nothing appears to happen, check that an ad isn't overlaying the menu:

All of these issues have resolutions with the hope of completing the most urgent ones (at the top of the list) in the next few days.

We plan to continue tweaking some elements of the design over the coming weeks to improve and refine the look and feel.

We appreciate any reports you can provide on issues you may be having with the new system. Please post new issues here.

Thanks again for your patience as we tidy things up!

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread to see if anyone else reported these.

(1) If you use the top drop-down menu bar to navigate to the MFT forum, it works fine. If you use the old Forums(New) menu, it reports a 404 - page not found.

I'm sure the conspiracy theorists could have fun with that.

(2) The mobile UI shows dots against unread notifications. The web page requires you to mouse over to see the dots. I guess both work but it's confusing, especially when the notifications count is cleared even when you have only read one.

Maybe I type too quick? But I'm being told to wait 6 seconds between replies to my own posts. I tend to move through one comment to another to reply - I am an experienced typist but thought being told to wait that long is not good.:p

I haven't looked through everything but in the three pages I looked at I found no mention of this. As far as I can tell, my gallery has been uploaded and is complete. However, there are images in my gallery that are not mine. They have the titles of the images that were there so I have a rough idea of what is missing. Ultimately the loss of a couple of images is not that important to me, I have them locally, but I have to assume this is happening to others as well and it could matter more to someone else. Here's a link to one of incorrect images:
Fog City Stompers
Also, I have noticed that old posts are generally not showing their images. In some cases, if I click on the broken link icon, the image appears. Sometimes not. I do know that in some cases the images were gone before the transition, so I am waiting a bit to see how things are once all the image loads are complete. I will be back after that if there are still broken links. It would be good if the completion is announced generally so we can verfiy.

The minimum time between messages (flood check) in XenForo forums is an anti-spam management tool. On many discussion forums the default is often 30 seconds.

This, as I’m sure that you can imagine, prevents “bad actors” or someone that has “gone off the reservation” from wreaking havoc automatically or manually in a very short period of time before getting banned.

Yes, it can be disabled for trusted user groups.

Would be nice... as you are replying in a post... if there was some sort of indicator that shows the TITLE of the original post (without scrolling back to the top). I see the "tree" progression (lower left)... and a lot of other "noise" on my screen... but not the "name/title" of the initial post. ADD to the tree progression?
There is unused space in the dark grey bar at the top that stays visible when you scroll down

I think the idea there (it's a default on other forums as well) is to get people to use the multi quote feature and put all their thoughts for the thread into a single reply, rather than posting multiple successive comments. For instance after replying to you here I could also quote

This other user explaining the same thing, and reply just once.

Has anyone else noticed that photos embedded within a post have a somewhat desaturated/"duller" look to them, and then when you click to view them full size (in the gallery view) that they're then much more saturated? Screenshots from a recent post that @Bill Ferris made.

Not used to that at all - prefer to reply to one thing at a time. I'm a trained typist so used to being able to do things quickly.

I appreciate that but also frustrating for those who wish to work quickly through comments and reply to them individually as I do.

30 seconds can be a long time if you're wanting to work through all the comments/replies.:D

As it appears to be important to you, Kathie, I would message Mathew or one of the other members of staff and ask if they could “move” you to a (trusted) user group where this feature is disabled. I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I don’t think that it can be switched off for individual members.

Thanks for the thought, appreciated. I had wondered.

The staff here at dpreview are just getting to grips with the new XenForo forum software, so you may have to be patient.

No, appreciate that - just thought I'd add to the comments others have been making.
