Announcement Forum system known issues

The first looks like the old site [also in the avatar, which you haven't changed, in the new site you get the default first initial.
Maybe you start from an old bookmark in your browser?
So … two things.
1. I closed the DPR window, opened a new tab, then opened DPR and made sure only the URL was displayed in the address bar as I brought up the site. The result was the “old” response counter. When I refreshed the screen it displayed the “new” way with the tiny number.
2. Are you saying that the intended display with the new forum system is to display the response counter in a four-point size? That’s a UI failure.

This is being removed, sorry for the confusion over two counters :(.

Can you screenshot this for us please.
Here we go. This happens when I am reading post and scroll up. It looks OK when I go to the main page.

BTW, I could not load it from my gallery.

There is something wrong with the way times are displayed. I'm seeing posts that were made yesterday as happening this morning.
Update your time zone preference.
  • Click on your username (top of webpage, upper right corner), a drop-down window will appear
  • Click on Preferences, another window will open with a Time Zone setting.

I am getting notifications for when people start new threads. They might all be from within the Nikon forums, which I do frequent, but this still doesn’t seem like a normal feature. Please see the attached screenshot showing my current notifications.
You are probably “watching” that forum, you need to go and un-watch it to stop receiving notifications.

Matthew, thanks for the reply.
I didn’t write that I see two counters. I only see one. However, that counter now is in a tiny font that many may have a hard time seeing. It violates conventions on good UI design.

Right after posting the response above I went to the top of the page to review the other three notifications there, but now the field shows none. Still needs some tweaking…

Like many others here

Currently I am receiving alerts (red flag) for forums in which I do not participate.

And none for those where I received one or more replies. It's hard to keep track! 🤪

As I mentioned to someone else, you are likely subscribed/watching those forums, go and un-watch them and the notifications will cease.

No, the problem lies at another level.
Currently, the (red flag) appears random, without any logic.

Overall, I think the new forums look great. It still feels like DPR, but a hundred times more modern! Well done, DPR (y)

A couple of slight annoyances I have noticed:

1. I noticed that a couple of privacy options in my profile appear to have been reset, meaning some information that I had kept private was now made public. I changed the setting, of course, but members should probably be advised to check that their privacy settings have migrated correctly.

2. In mobile view, the forum breadcrumb does not include the "home" Forums link, meaning that 3 clicks are required to move from a forum nested inside one group to one nested inside another group. Desktop view has the full breadcrumb, but not mobile view:

I'm being notified of threads that I haven't even participated in, commented in or ever seen before.

Go into settings/preferences and uncheck the first item which is notifications to forums you are subscribed to.

THANKS FOR THE GOOD WORK.

Not quite sure about the "flat" (scrolling) approach/interface for a discussion thread. Hopefully the PULL of the community is stronger than the PUSH in this regard. Yes... everyone knows... we all really liked the old "threaded" option -- but that has already been discussed.

What I really need to see... is EXIF.

Either a hover or a right-click or an associated button/toggle.

This is a photo enthusiast site, for good ness sake!

There simply HAS to be an easy/convenient way to display EXIF.
Display of EXIF data was one of the known issues mentioned at the beginning of this thread, but it should be displaying now. If you're not seeing it, please let us know.
