FF vs. DX is Like Automatic vs. Stick

I'm glad to know in addition to being a photographer you are also a doctor. Roman, shear frustration of the Nth degree could only make me say that. Again it pains me to have wished that to Nikon gear, but dude, I gotta be frank, with the jabs you've been taking at me, I really didn't care.

Currently refusing to upgrade until Nikon gives me FF.

Your not going to belive it....but you have been the antagonist....at least in the beginning.

Im not your enemy...but I do have strong opinions...

But that still dosnt give you the right to wish such ill will on me.

The thought of doing so would never cross my mind....I dont care how much I disagree with somone.

And I am not trying to put you down....but that is an amazingly small and revealing statment.

My advice to you is to learn to take these forums with a grain of salt...and not get so wound up. Passion is one thing....and can be a very positive thing...driving people to explor boundaries they would normaly never explore....

But misplaced....turns into one of mankinds worst expressions of self....from nasty statment....all the way up to wars.....

I am hoping your just passionate.....and not the other.

. . . posters we have here.

If we'd had a forum like this 40 years ago, do you suppose the 35mm shooters would be so upset when someone pointed out that medium format works better in some applications? Probably we would.

The way some of you are reacting, you'd think the introduction of FF would render APS obsolete.

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

I've never met Roman and I don't want him hurt or
worse.
funny "and"
But honestly, I think it would be just if his gear were
eaten by a bear;
first, you should ask if the gear is insured for being eaten; otherwise Roman will be hurt financially. second, the loss of equipment is moral trauma and hurts business - and now how that complies with yours "I don't want him hurt"?
sorry if that humour isn't your cup of tea.
casting bad spells was never been my cup of tea.

"frustration OF the Nth degree" ???

Shouldn't it read frustration TO the nth degree?

Dude? Yeah, he's from Omaha.

Okay, if you must be Frank, why call yourself Adam? ;)

Cheers!

P.S. Your humour is quite typical of someone from your area. I must admit that I agree with all the others. It's sick humour, indicative of an individual who truly needs professional help.

I ask you, what is wrong with a healthy discussion? How many posts
do we see a week on the following subjecs:

Do I need a D2X?
Trying to decided between D70 and D100?
Trying to decide if I should wait for the D200?
How good is X lens and please share smaples.

Their has always been a repetitive nature to forums, but sometimes
through that repitition we unearth different perspectives that
ultimately help someone.

If you can't see that, then I don't know what to tell you. Look
back at my original post and you'll see the point for the
discussion. This wasn't a Nikon needs FF thread, or Canon is
better, etc. this was, well it should have been a great discussion
on how we, as Nikon loyalists, lack options.

I'm sorry you didn't appreciate my post or the dialogue that followed.
Backtracking does nothing to improve your position. In fact, it only makes your position worse. If you truly believe in what you say, you will never, ever have to explain yourself to anyone.

I continue to stand behind my comment: A troll is a troll is a troll.

O.K.

Like....try this on for size. I did not even realize this until a
full day in high country shooting the 5D.
Oh, no ... here we go again.
The one thing I noticed after a couple days of shooting it? My eye
is really relaxed and does not feel strained like it does on a crop
camera. This just adds more value to the creative process for me.
You need your eyes checked. I don't have a problem with my D70.
It would only stand to reason that you may be harming your vision
by looking at a bright scene in a box that is relatively far away
in the viewfinder. Too much contrast for your eye to deal with
properly.

This would explain why I have had a harder time manually focusing
with those silly cameras.
Hmm, I don't have such a problem. Are you doing something wrong? ;)
With the image at least in your face, cropped or not, you are
allowing your eye to kind of feather out the black areas of the
frame and see clearly the image area. Cameras like the D70, D100,
10D, 20D, etc. They are like looking through a pair of paper towel
tubes. Harsh.
Again, get your eyes checked.
Maybe the D2X is an improvement in how close it brings you the
cropped image and diminishes that somewhat, but it is still not as
easy on the eyes as a 35mm camera.
We're not talking about 35mm cameras. We're talking about FF vs DX, which is such a silly argument anyway.

===================================

Every advance in our knowledge of the cosmos has revealed that we live on a cosmic speck of dust orbiting a mediocre sort of star in the far suburbs in a common sort of galaxy, among a hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe...
still...
...when I look at all those stars I am struck by how insignificant they are.

Sadly, we probably would.

Well said. The entire FF vs APS argument is ridiculous. Every format has its advantages and disadvantages. To argue otherwise is plain foolishness.
