Anybody know if you can use the Tunderbold port on a macbook pro

Is there a way to charge the batterys in the camera without buying,

the very expensif adapter from Canon.

I charged it with my Nexus 5X (USB-C) phone charger, no problem.

Yes it does. One needs to think about it like charging and IPad Pro. Most regular PCs don’t deliver enough power to charge and iPad Pro. Same goes for the R, which is why canon doesn’t claim this, since it may or may not work.

You need a true USB3 port. So it will work on a mac, with the ipad’s Adapter with a USB-A to USB-C cable etc. Heck my macbook’s adapter charges it from what I have seen (I don’t do the latter though cause I get an uneasy feeling because of what the adapter can deliver, but this is probably not founded since it should deliver what is requested).

Oh ya... my desktop has an ASUS MoBo, which had a fast charging port. The other ports don’t supply enough power but that fast charging port does.

I find that as long as you have the e6n battery inside, I can charge the Eos r with just my phone charger. Have not tried charging using my power bank, but it has power delivery so Im sure it will work.

So I believe the R can be charged by any USB C charger and a power bank with power delivery.

The power adapter is part of the grip! Thats the reason for the higher price ..

I know, but i dont want the grip and the adapter alone cost 129 euro.
