Even when I had a 24 inch Epson 7600, I would occasionally cut some 8.5 X 11 sheets from a roll in order to make a few test prints or few small prints.
Now that my 7600 has been recycled and replaced with a P900, I continue to sometimes cut sheets from rolls. I had no intention of buying the ridiculous priced roll adapter for the P900. If I needed to print on rolls, I would have purchased something like the P5000. Since I no longer print as much, the smaller printer seemed appropriate. I was also able to salvage some left over 24 inch rolls by cutting 17 X 24 inch sheets from them. I agree that using cut sheets is much more convenient, but sometimes the extra flexibility in cutting different sizes and sheets longer than ones available commercially is worthwhile. And on occasion, roll paper is much less expensive than the equivalent sheets. For example, I was able to save over $40 on a roll of Epson Legacy Fibre paper compared to 17 X 22 sheets. Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in my setup.
