CTF Mini Challenge #133 - * Tractors *

...congrats on a well desreved win sueanne!! I think you picked a great topic but presently I have only one tractor photo to enter. Maybe I can get out and get a couple more to enter before it's over.

This one you may have seen in Pigeon Forge at a miniature golf course.

Thanks for looking,

Doug

If this helps what seems to be some confusion, the definition is from Wikipedia:

"A tractor is a vehicle specifically designed to provide a high tractive effort at slow speeds, for the purposes of hauling a trailer or machinery used in agriculture or construction. Most commonly, the term is used to describe the distinctive farm vehicle: agricultural implements may be towed behind or mounted on the tractor, and the tractor may also provide a source of power if the implement is mechanised. Another common use of the term is for the power unit of a semi-trailer truck.

The word tractor is derived from the Latin trahere "to pull".["

Thus my bulldozer is not strictly speaking a tractor (puller), but a "pusher," -- unless, of course you were to hook something up to the back of it and have the bulldozer pull it, in which the bulldozer technically becomes a tractor, according to the wiki definition, at any rate.

Now, how much lattidude there should be to what qualifies as a tractor (or something tractor-related) has got to be up to our host, which is generally how we do this with other categories.

Enjoy everyone.

Doug,

Nice one of a John Deere model 60 series. (was this for show or still in use?)

This looks like one fine mini golf course if it had a JD there. :)

Very nice find of a pre-tire tractor. Looks like a restoring job is being done.
Question - does it run, I wonder....

I like the newly paint job and this tractor would be well liked in the Amish community. (steel tires are prefered)

Nice midnight sepia version too.

If you check Wikipedia definition I supplied above, the power unit of a big semi might qualify as a tractor, as the host did not specify tractors only in terms of "farm equipment." These units are frequently referred to as tractors.

There should be lots of material available in the city. I grew up in NYC, and all you've got to do is head downtown to the industrial areas with your camera. I'll bet you can find some amazing shots. If I were still in NY, that's what I'd try.
Tractors?

Farm equipment's not great for us city folk...

Wonderful B/W portrait of a hard working farmer. I can see history in this picture.
I like the background and trying to figure out what kind of tractor it is.

I grew up in the country and love a Deer too.

The water tractors are neat. Self propelled and follow your garden hose. They will water the entire lawn and even shut them self off when it gets back home. Expensive tho, $75 to $100 bucks.
