*** CTF Challenge 81 – Perspective Disproportion ***

Its the parameters and the constraints of the topic and rules that makes this a challenge. If not, it will be just a show and tell...

Nugar, no need to explain. We wish you all best. Our best wishes are with your mom, she will make it through alright. With you by her side she has nothing to worry about.
Hi guys,

Just to let you know, I will most probably be off for a couple of
days due to a situation that arised here.

My Mom is in the hospital since yesterday. She needs a pacemaker
and while she looks ok, it is needed rather urgently. She was
admitted thru the ER, is now on a room and I've been in charge of
all arrangements, so I'm dead tired.

I'm in no mood for photography right now, but who knows...

I'll also most probably neglect to comment.

Best regards,

So I will leave the cslr challenge as a refuge for people that dislike me:-)))

Mind you if I can't win a challenge here I might duck across there & win a quick challenge just for me ego, I will have to learn how to do frames & sigs first I suppose:-(

The tyrant Abs is in full flight now, he's making me look like a pussy cat.
Just dust yourself off Alexei & start shooting……………..a sunset will do:-)

Pops,
first of all, i appreciate you addressing this topic-issue. thanks.
  1. 1: i agree with you that, host has authority to decide whether the shot is
on/off topic...but not without giving proper explanation/reasoning. hence, i am trying my level best to explain my views on every entry and not taking (have not taken) any action based on interpretive reasons.

Jano hardly left anything for me to add about #2 or whats the importance of "challenge" compared to just posting photos in this forum. (thanks Jano)
viewers are not only voters, they are participants too.

imho, by making sure about entries being on-topic...its fair to people who go into trouble, out of their comfort-zone in making efforts to get their entries right. as Jano said, by coming up with something within rules actually increases one's photographic skills. which is the lesson that challenges are supposed to give. i am very impressed with the quality of entries, various interpretation of the theme and especially the amount of time people might have spent to get the proper dof/focus/disproportion-feel in their photos to suit the challenge theme.

I'd like to make just two simple points:

1: Abstract, as the host of this challenge you are the proper and
sole judge of what's on and off topic. If you deem a photo to be
off topic then off topic it is. Moving it to pending is the proper
action. There should be not regrets or hesitation if you choose to
move an off-topic photo.

2: IMHO we as a group have gotten way to much concerned about
what's on and off topic. I say leave everything where it is and
let the voters decide. Are we loosing the bigger picture of
learning how to take better pictures for the sake of picking nits?

Real sorry to hear about your mother. Wishing her all the best in the world, and hope she gets better soon.

No. It was made at Ofoto. I got a picture of my daughter made also and they were christmas gifts to my wife. She love them.

and I just saw the other day that ofoto is also offering the mugs. When I went on that field trip to the restoration village a few weeks ago, I did some portraits of all the kids. One of the moms wanted pix of the kids for 'a tile project' she was planning for the teacher. Instead, she ended up using all my shots on mugs for the kids to give their moms on mother's day. I think she did them herself though.

Question - I don't know how she applied them, but they easily scratch off, so the mugs can't be used for anything but display. Are the Ofoto or Cafe press ones under the glaze well enough for them to withstand use and dishwasher?

Thanks,
Lonnit

Lonnit,

The mugs are glazed but in time the dishwasher will fade the image. I guess if you hand wash them they'll last a long time.

The biggest problem with Cafepress.com is you're setting up a store and they have only one mug and you can put only one design on it. So, if you wanted mugs of all your kids your would have to set up the first mug, order it and pay the shipping, then after the first order is filled set up the next mug, order it .... etc.

You'll end up paying for a lot of shipping.

Setting up a "store" at cafepress.com is free. They do have a premium set up that costs money and allows a lot more options. I don't know much about the premium setup.

My family has used cafepress for a lot of things like the joke we played on my younger son on a recent Alaskan cruise! That's him on all the t-shirts we're wearing and that's him sitting in the center of the pic.
