>>> Challenge 6 - The Wide : Open <<<

I'm the mother, but who's the father? Anyone we know?!!!! LOL!
What a welcome back! I'm into work this morning and started up the
computers and have been scouring the threads and galleries.

This is so funny!
I thought you'd enjoy it! Wasn't planned, just the kids playing with their toys and then it dawned on me who it reminded me of! LOL!
(Anyone who doesn't get the joke here should check my galleries
Unfortunately at time of writing they are down for a few days)

Well taken pictures as well!
Thanks. :)
I should be more active now. Christmas really took it's toll on me
and I had to have some time out. It just worked out that way, it
wasn't planned.
You didn't miss much the list was SLOOOOOOOW (probalby b.c. I wasn't yapping! LOL!)
Joe became resident bumper during my slack period!
And a fine job he did... bumping and grinding all over the place. :)
Just got to see if I've got time to enter my challenges now. I did
little more than snapshots over the hols. Good to see other people
being more creative!
Welcome back and happy new year!

Lonnit,

Those are some great shots I am assuming your kids?
Thanks. Yes, they're mine. I'm so lucky to have such wonderful subjects that work cheap! LOL!
If we ever have a portrait challenge you could be dangerous.
Thank you very much. I sure dang hope I can be. I so want to get REALLY good. I don't know why this is such a strong urge in me; perhaps b/c I waited so long for it, but wow, it sure is a passion!

Warmly,
Lonnit

Where did it go? I had been watching it b/c it intrigued me that my toothbrush had gotten a large # of hits but yet no comments. I figured people were curious about it via the thumbnail then bored when they got there. LOL!

Lonnit, you need to be logged in with the CSLR challenge username and password to see the hit counter. If you've logged into CTF challenge and not logged out, you won't see the hits on the CSLR pics.

Lonnit, make the most of it while they are still young enough to enjoy having their photos taken. My 9 year old daughter is a delightful subject, and quite happy to sit and pose while I experiment with different settings etc. When we're out and about she's completely unaware of the camera and I have some wonderful candid shots of her.

On the other hand, her teenage brothers and sister are simply hard work to get a good shot of, cos they run a mile when they see the camera pointed towards them!

But!!! I've already warned my 18yo son that when he graduates from Royal Military College in a years time, I am gonna be there with my 300D, tripod and a long lens, taking thousands of photos of his transition from staff cadet to army officer. And between photos, I'll be shouting "That's MY boy!!!!" LOL!

And no matter that he will be required to be addressed as "Sir" by his troops.....as his mother I have earned the right to still call him "Possum". Much to his disgust ;-)

Well, you can take some of their younger shots, and take more when they've completed adolescence, then morph them to make up the missing teen shots! LOL!

I'm giving you a standing ovation as we speak. Is there just
nothing you are not good at? LOL!
Well, thanks now. Always nice to have some of my stronger efforts appreciated. You can sit down and stop clapping now. :-)
Of course I can't resist grabbing the camera and shooting more
of the kids which just gets me deeper under the pile.
If you saw my stack of untamed images, you would wonder if I ever shot anything except my kids. As an amateur photog and parent, I can think of no better subject matter.
I'm starting to get the hang of the flash. You might say a light
just went on! LOL!
Yep yep yep, yes you are. I'd say (... searching for words here...) the light just went on. Now, is anyone home? Sorry, my boyish impulses wouldn't leave that one untended. Somebody spank me.
For flash practice I ended up interrupting myself with these...
You should interrupt yourself more often. These are terrific, Lonnit!! Granted, I'm a bit biased (I dig portraits more than anything), but I consider these some of the best shots I've seen you post. Three faves below. One suggestion on the first: Take it with a landscape perspective, son nestled up tight on the left or right margin, then trim it to a Wide:Open perspective ( nudge ). Could be a big favorite on voting day. Again: These are terrific...

So I was having lunch with a friend at a chinese restaurant and she says, "Oh, It's the Year of the Monkey!"

And I replyed, "D@mn, I've been putting 'Sheep' on all my checks!"

LOL!

ISO, check your dates!

(Yea, I know, Chinese new year isn't until sometime in February so it's still technically the year of the Sheep!)

Sheep, Monkey, I get those things confused all the time.

So do Aric Spence and Rob McGlade. They need to check dates as well. ISO, you're not alone.

And while I'm on the subject of dates, there are several images without dates. Those need to be added.

It is poetic justice that I was born in the year of the bore! Is there a Chinese year of the technical propeller head? I'd qualify for that one too! LOL

I don't know who handles all of this, but I am willing to offer free hosting for all of this (I'm guessing someone is currently paying for a pbase account). I'm not sure what your requirements are, but I could grant you a gig of space, 25gb of bandwidth/month, some mysql databases (so you can create php based galleries and multiple users, etc), and some other options if you would like. If your requirements are otherwise, let me know as I am willing to work with you on your requirements. This would allow you to better share larger files. If whoever runs these contests is interested you can drop me an e-mail or contact me on AIM (beastbyz),MSN([email protected]), or ICQ (2035642). I run my own servers, so speed and stability are nearly perfect (currently 52 days up time) and you would receive a control panel as well (cPanel), so it would be easy to manage.

The Chinese calendar is based upon the moon, so the start of the year varies with respect to the Gregorian from year to year since there is not an integer number of lunations per Gregorian year (about 12.37 actually). This year, Chinese New Year is on January 22.
So I was having lunch with a friend at a chinese restaurant and she
says, "Oh, It's the Year of the Monkey!"
