If you look at prior challenge dates you'll see that the challenge closes on Tuesday 6:59pm(eastern) and voting starts 7:00pm(eastern).

Since most of the U.S. (except Hawaii, Arizona, and parts of Indiana) practice daylight savings time you'll see one hour added, e.g. it's 7:59pm for us in the eastern U.S.

Perhaps I've missed a few threads? so not sure why the dates are set as such. I reckon the dates in the gallery are set per the CTF challenge dates, where voting starts on Monday and ends Wednesday.

If that's incorrect I can easily update the CSLR challenge dates ASAP.

The way we usually do it, is to have the challenge end on a Tuesday at 23:59:59 (11:59:59PM) and the voting start on a Wednesday at 0:00:00 (12AM), all times UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). This is the way the voting booth is set up already, so lets not try to change anything (I think Jack would be the only person who could).

There is precious little last-hours activity in the galleries: no new images, no moving of images from gallery to gallery and no comments...

So, is everyone just rolling their thumbs? Waiting for the challenge to be over and the voting to commence?
