CHallenge 3: Voting thread

LOL, Jono said it was Ribena :-)
And presumably, as you asked this question, you didn't believe me (you of little faith).

:-P
"Pink Drink" by Quentin Bargate (please tell us what it is! Love
the colour on softness of this.)
Well, Flick, this shot was so tricky - based on days of careful
experimentation with various pignments, test shots...blah blah

Oh, I give up, its Ribena :-) I used "longer" setting on camera,
then tricked Ribena in to the water flow from outside the image
area, then boosted the saturation slighly in Photoshop.

No not me - though my husband has fantasies of me as Mistress Flick, complete with whip and thigh high leather boots.

Now i think we should stop polluting the voting thread with mentions of bizarre articles of clothing ;-)
I'll have to buy you an Ann Summers gift voucher ;-)
Ahhh! so that's where you bought it from - I have to say, I'm
surprised at you!

But it's well deserved :-)

I couldn't help but put in all my "honourable mentions" (such interesting photos, and a very nice group). It was even worse before, but I hit up against the 6000 character per post limit!

Cheers!

Chas
Specially since I was one of the recipients.

Paul
Competition
1pt - "Pebbles Under Water" by Bob Cody
1pt - Puddle by Francesco Tonelli

Exhibition
1pt - Torrens River Bridge by Paul Rohal
1pt - Central Park in the Snow by Kate Westrop

Apologies for the error,

Chas
Hi,

I might be wrong but I think you've a couple of extra points in
each gallery to award. I'm guessing you would like to given so
many honourable mentions.

Lucky you, wish I had more points as I found it really hard to decide.

Regards

Paul

Now, you two...

What's wrong with Ribena anyway? I'm sure it was John Major's favourite tipple. Ok, I get it now....

Mistress Flick, complete with whip and thigh high leather boots?

Hi Chas

It might cost her a bit in air fares, getting around to everyone so that they could take her photo, but if she's up for it, I'm game ;-)

kind regards

Bizarreness in general might make an interesting theme. I wouldn't want to restrict it to bizarre clothing, since my wardrobe contains only jeans and T shirts. (I don't do weddings!)

Jono,

Thanks for the kind words. The bubble shots were a perfect example of grabbing an opportunity. I was at my mother in laws for a family lunch. As we were wrapping up I noticed my daughter and niece blowing bubbles. I grabbed my camera ran outside and begged for them to keep it up for a couple more minutes while the "adults" finished cleaning up. I was blessed to join in on their fun.

thanks again, John
Hi There
It's great that there were more entries this time - and a pretty
high standard at that.
It's so difficult to make choices, but here we go

Competition:
Bit of a whitewash by Flick here - I thought all her shots were
lovely:

4pts - Kingsmead by Flick Merauld
not usually convinced by partially recolouring - but this really
works

3pts - Misty Morning Pool by Tim Ashley
original and very characteristic of Tim - great

3pts - Punts by Flick Merauld
not a new subject, but nicly done, and the sepia works

2pts - Puddle by Francesco Tonelli
somehow more than it seems at first sight (another successful
recolouring job)

2pts - Pink Drink by Quentin Bargate
sooo formal! I love it,

1pt - Can't stop the water by John Hill
Well, it made me smile - it's nicely realised and I liked it better
than the bubble pics
(which, though well realised, seemed a little too contrived).

1pt - Unreality by Flick Merauld
Flick again - I think this is excellent, and would have given it
more if it wasn't for
the other two!

Exhibition:
Lots of wonderful stuff here, choosing was very hard, but here's my
(current) feelings

4pts - On the half shell by Francesco Tonelli
What Francesco does best - wonderful and mouth watering.

3pts - "A Mauritian morning" by Quentin Bargate
A lovely photo, he deserves more for carrying all that gear to
Mauritias!

2pts - Rockpool at Crackington Haven by Quentin Bargate
I love this kind of shot, and he's done it so well.

2pts - Dreamy Sea" by John Hill
Nicely composed, and nicely executed

2pts - Splash by Claudio Gatti
just GREAT!

1pts - Derelict West Pier, Brighton by David Millier
David's caught the nostalgic mood really nicely here - great shot .
. .
and more interesting as the pier has now (I believe) washed away.

1pts - Breakfast by David Fink
Hi David! I really like this one - I also liked the composition
and idea of the
Virginia barn, but thought it let down by the quality of the scan.

I also think that Warren (our reluctant organiser) deserves a big
vote of thanks - he's done it with a very good grace! It was also
nice to see John Oliviera from Kodak entering into the Exhibition
gallery - let's have more from the yellow guys!

I agree with Paul - for the next competition let's change the
rules, so that the previous winner can join in, as well as organise.

I also think that it was a good idea to have a pretty general topic
like 'water' - there are not enough entrants yet to make it a good
idea to exclude anyone with anything too specific.

Kind Regards

It was very exciting to see all the images.

Competition Gallery

4 points Kingsmead by Flick Merauld A stunning image and I really like the use of green colour.

3 points "Bubble over pool" by John Hill The image has fabulous abstract shapes in the background and this contrasts very effectively with the sharp image within the bubble.

2 points"Bubbles over pool" by John Hill A wonderful image. Excellent composition and effective use of grey in the background.

2 points Unreality by Flick Merauld. A very imaginative image and thought provoking.

2 points Spoon Splash 1" by Charles Gervais. A great feeling of movement and a very dynamic image.

1 point Puddle by Francesco Tonelli. I love the use of colour in the reflection and the way it contrasts with the rest of the image.

1 point"Sleep Standing" by Paul Rohal. A conventional image but done with a touch of humour.

1 point Splash by John Denton The long exposure has been very effective in creating a beautiful image.
Honourable mentions
Punts by Flick Merauld
"Mesa Creek" by Albert Yanowich Jr.
Liquid Islands by Francesco Tonelli

Exhibition Gallery

4 points Sketching on the Arno by Jono Slack- superb composition. A beautiful peaceful image.

3 points Above Us Only Sky by Flick Merauld- A strong powerful image. I love the pattern of the watery clouds.

3 points Blue, surveying the storm by Jono Slack- very dramatic and yet the dog evokes a strong sense of fun and joy of life.

2 points- Reflections by Flick Merauld – I really like the abstract patterns, colour and shapes in this image.
2 points - Dreamy Sea" by John Hill- This image has a very mystic quality to it.
1 point - "The Swim Team" by Albert Yanowich Jr. – This image is great fun!

1 point Rockpool at Crackington Haven, by Quentin Bargate – The use of the specific lens helps to give this an excellent composition.

I'm sure you have impeccable taste and all that, but I just don't believe you haven't got some horror hidden away somewhere or other
;-)

Absolutely - as long as you wear the outfit during the travel.

Never knew that salaciousness was illegal . . . . . but then, what do I know?
