So, a good month ago I was out taking bird shots. A male and female paradise duck (New Zealand native shelduck) flew into a pond in the middle of nowhere. The male after a minute flew off the pond and came belly first at my head, I lifted the A7RIV and 200-600 and it hit the lens head on. Wiped the water off the lens and then it came right back at my head again, another smack to the lens. The lens was fine.
The camera started playing up with rainbow colours in the EVF and rear screen. It was stuffed. Then it came at me again (third time), monopod ready this time and it hit that instead of my head. So after a month I finally got the camera back. Went out a few days later in sunshine to try it out. It works !! Went to where I know plenty of cormorants are, good practice.

So it's fixed, but the most expensive duck I've ever come across. $2735 NZ, but insurance came to the party and personal cost was $420 NZ thanks goodness.
All the best folks.
BTW, here's an old shot of a male paradise duck ..... large and heavy.

Theorists. Looks good on paper, just not photographic printing paper.
