The one feature that windows had for android is finally coming to iOS devices. Phone link will soon connect to iOS devices for messaging, calls, and notifications first off. I am sure file sharing and responding with images will be coming in a future update. Right now, I am happy to have phone link be a reliable connection to my iPhone for messaging. They are testing it in the release build of insiders now. Come on, get it to the public ASAP.

I have been saying this needs to happen for years, a little small company called screenovate did it years ago, but MS has been dragging its feet. I think Satya and Timmy should have a meeting to get this to work. LOTS of windows users do not want to move to macOS but own iPhones. This should have been a thing when Phone link (whatever the old name was) was introduced with windows 10.

Its a start but not enough for those who have complex message texting needs that require a keyboard and live/work, as most people do, in Windows. That's on Apple, not Microsoft.

For a few years I had to keep an Apple laptop open to reply to complex work related texts but I have been off the iPhone now for a couple of years and find YourPhone adequate, but not as seamless as macOS/iPhone integration (except for the instances when iMessage refused to send to Android phones).

Nevertheless this is a positive sign that either by work-arounds, or forced by regulatory bodies like the EU, the anti-consumer wall around Apple Island is showing some chinks.

Many Android users do not seem aware that in just about any browser, eg Chrome/Edge/Firefox, you can use a web page (messages.google.com) to send and receive all ilk of texts. It even works in macOS and iOS with those browsers, never tried it in Safari because Safari.

That's exactly what this is. Message from your pc without picking up your phone.

I guess MSFT did Android first because Apple doesn't support it well, if at all.

However in the USA, more people use iPhones than Android phones, based on Statcounter. In Canada, iPhones have nearly 60% on this graph.

Yes android was much easier but apple can be done too. As I mentioned a little unknown tech company called screenovate did it years ago.

GenZers who own an Android have lost track of how many times they've been bullied for not having an iPhone but they still refuse to switch

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/tech...e-but-they-still-refuse-to-switch/ar-AA17OdWl

Santiago Gaughan, a 21-year-old college student in Houston told Insider he always took comments urging him to replace his Android with an iPhone as jokes and feels "no pressure at all" to make the switch.

However, one Twitter user suggested phone choice could be stopping men from getting dates with women.

"I know multiple guys who had girls nominally interested in them completely ghost them when they texted and it didn’t show iMessage. Something is going on here."
...
iPhone user Genesis Avila, 23, said the stigma against non-iPhones started off as a middle school joke that just never went away. According to Avila, Android users were seen as "poor or a loser," and the mentality gained popularity online.

"Even if Androids are the better phone, that stigma would never make me get one," Avila told
Insider.

I've been using Google's "Messages for web" with my Android for years.
Simple, quick and functional. 👍

It's amazing to me that GenZ people, who supposedly pride themselves on their ability to see right through corporate attempts at pandering to them, have been so thoroughly brainwashed by Apple.

True 100 percent Sean. Thats another story for another time however.

That people are ghosting daters over phone choice is amazing. But it goes hand in hand with women who will not date guys over 6ft.

As a total tangent a dating website did a study (match maybe) and men rated 80% of women as attractive. Yet women rated only 20% of men as attractive. Guys get the stigma as being shallow but it is more likely men are more upfront about their shallowness.

Slightly off topic but related. Does Phone Link work with all Android (like Google Pixel phone)? It seems to advertise only Samsung.

I have been Apple user for over 10 years. I switched over to Samsung phone for work. For past 2 years, I kept both Apple iPhone for personal number and Samsung phone for work number. I was using Phone Link occasionally. It works, but not as nice as Apple integration.

Just last month, I combined my home # and work #. I have been using Phone Link a lot more, for the text messages. In around 2 months, I can upgrade my work phone. I am thinking about getting Google Pixel 7 Pro. Is that compatible with Windows Phone Link?

The Pixel 7 Pro should be compatible with phone link but since Google Messages has a web interface already I do not see a reason to use it. https://messages.google.com/ already works great.

This sort of news could only come from one country in the world.

Personally i couldn't use an Iphone even if they gave me one for free. The camera is nice, but i use my phone for serious stuff, not just selfies and emoticons. Last time i ckecked, even the most basic tasks were restricted on all Iphones, like recording a voice memo and sending it to another device via Bluetooth. Normal phones have had this feature since 2002, so more than 20 years.

Certain societies need to grow up already(notice the word societies, since this isn't a generational issue).

I don't have an iPhone either, because Android phones are still available with microSD card and audio jack. But when they go away, which they already have on Samsung phones, I'll be amenable to switching.
