I am thinking about selling my Sony a6500 and replacing it with a Sony a6600 but there is one big thing missing from this camera ....a flash. I know most of you will think "why do you need a small flash for it"....I do a lot of concert photography with my a6500 but there have been times where I went to a bar afterwards and got photos with members of the band afterward and the only flash I had was the one that builtin into the camera. With the Sony a6600 I wouldn't have that and a lot of times I don't have time to go to my car to get one since it is parked far away. So has anyone seen a tiny flash that will go on the hotshoe that would work pretty well (I thought about the illumicube, but wanted something that would make it look like it is part of the camera because a lot of times I have to sneak my camera in concerts in a way that makes them think it is a big point & shoot and not a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.)

There are several relatively small external flashes that will fit, but they certainly will not look like part of the camera.

What is an illumicube? I Googled that, but I think you got the name wrong.

A tiny flash that "looks like it is part of the camera" probably won't work much better than the built-in flash. You're better off getting a compact hotshoe flash with tilt and swivel that you can slip into your socks if you need to sneak it in. I have this one:

It's great because it's reasonably powerful for its size and it tilts and pans (essential for bouncing the flash off of nearby surfaces) and it even comes with a flash diffuser. It's about the size of a deck of cards when you flatten out the flash (ie, point the flash head straight up).

Thanks for the suggestion! However, I just need a really small one (just like the one that comes with the a6500) for these really rare situations

I think that something like this one (on Amazon) is about as small as it's going to get.

The reason is that it needs batteries and a circuit board, items that are already inside the cameras like the 6500.

Yep, it's tough getting any smaller than that, especially for any flash that requires its own power source and circuitry.

This one is a little smaller, but it's a manual flash, not TTL.

Other brands offer such things, but not Sony. I have an Olypus E-PM1 that includes a tiny detachable flash (because there is no built-in flash on the camera body).

That Olympus camera was designed to take that external flash.

That flash does not work with the other Olympus cameras.

In fact Sony did exactly the same with the NEX3 and 5
