Hi, I've been using the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II paper with my Canon Pixma Pro-100 but would like to look at alternatives that may be cheaper.

Is there any difference between the Canon paper and this one by Kodak?

I'm also interested in this HP equivalent that's substantially cheaper.

Other recommendations for 5x7 photo paper I should consider?

How about buying the Canon paper for cheaper than either of those? Here you go, and I've always gotten good service from B&H, 20 sheets for $4.99:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...002_photo_paper_plus_glossy.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Do the math: the Canon from B&H is $0.25 per sheet. The HP from Walmart is $0.27 per sheet. The Kodak from Walmart is $0.32 per sheet.

As for whether the papers are different: they're probably at least a little different. How much that matters for your uses is hard to say. I can tell you that if you use a color-managed workflow, installing the Canon Pro-100 driver installed Canon's ICC profile for Glossy II, but you aren't likely to find any profiles for either the Kodak or the HP paper in the Canon printer.

Also, you could print slightly cheaper ($0.20 per 5x7 print), and also make borderless 5x7s without printing in borderless mode (and thereby not spray ink into your printer's guts) by buying letter-size paper ($7.99 per 20, https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301349-REG/canon_1432c003_photo_paper_plus_glossy.html) and printing 2, 5x7s on each page. But then of course you have to manually cut them out.

I'd go with Red River

https://www.redrivercatalog.com/browse/68lb-ultrapro-gloss.html

100 sheets of 5/7, $25.95 and they have profiles for that paper for the Pro-100.
Genuinely curious: insofar as for 5x7s the Red River UltraPro Gloss is $0.26 per sheet and the Canon is $0.25 per sheet, why is it that you prefer the Red River UltraPro Gloss?

IMOPO, the Red River Pecos River Gloss--which is something different--is an interesting paper. And it is actually a hair cheaper (before shipping), at $0.24 per 5x7 inch sheet. But it is not really similar to Canon Glossy II. Reference: https://www.redrivercatalog.com/browse/60lb-pecos-river-gloss.html.

Sure. Granted my experience is a little old but I've used previous versions of UltraPro Gloss it to be of quite good quality. I used them with all my previous photo printers and had excellent results. This was a long while ago so it may not be true today (I've just got my sample of the latest papers from RR).

I had also tried some previous versions of the Canon papers with my older Canon and was not impressed. The samples that came from my Pro-100 (Lustre) are quite good.

However I just clicked your link from B&H and 100 sheets is on holiday sale for $9.99. Given the price of $0.0999 per sheet I'd definitely but the Canon.
