Nikon vs Sony mirrorless (humor)

You know, this was meant to be a bit of a fun thread. All too often we have a tendency to take this stuff too seriously. It's not like whatever camera we use will make any difference to the real world. If we are happy with the camera and it does what we want, what does it matter what others think?

For years now mirrorless people have been yelling "When will Canon/Nikon make mirrorless?". Well the day is upon us. Your getting your wish. So why are you not full of rejoice?

I'd guess that the "mirrorless people" are happier about the new announcements than the "DSLR people" .

For me personally I'm excited to see what Nikon brings to the table even if it isn't a fit for me at this point. If it is a fit then maybe I'll change and if it isn't then maybe Sony will be pushed to be more aggressive with future development and/or pricing.

They are Sony only guys coming in here and gets their nuts all in a knot, sitting their with their worry beads in hand wondering if Nikon is going to wipe the floor with their MLs. If they're coming here interested in the Nikon ZF ML that's one thing but to come here with the attitude they came with I'd have banned them all until Aug 30th. They've added absolutely nothing, except that vegan photographer attitude, and frankly I'd have preferred if they used that among themselves. Quarantined if you will.

I think you Sony guys are worried. Not because the Nikon will necessarily be a better mirrorless. It doesn't have to be. So long as it's a decent camera, it will out sell the Sony cameras because it carries the Nikon name. The Canon mirrorless will probably do even better. Perhaps Sony should be worried?

..so where will it be held?

I would think Sony should be more worried about Canon since it is easier for Canon users to use their existing lenses on Sony. One of my relatives bought an A7Riii and uses his existing Canon lenses on it.

And that, my friend, is BS. You opened this thread as "Nikon vs. Sony" even though the initial link has a neutral title and even though some cartoons are vendor neutral. That says it all about your intentions.

You even admit it: "I kind of thought this would p*ss off the Sony trolls."

This post was not humourous in the first place. It was a troll action.

If this thread had been posted in a Sony forum then that definition would fit, but since it has been posted here, any "disruption and argument" caused would have been minimal if Sony fans had not chipped in.

I can count 1.5 "Sony fans" in this thread, myself being the 0.5 "fan" since I am using both Sony and Nikon cameras though I am not really a Sony "fan" but just a user because it was the only ML FF option when I bought mine and it still is until we se the upcoming Nikon ML. Given the general high Nikon vs. Sony tension level in this forum, I think it has been less malign in this particular thread. BTW, I find the cartoons funny even though Sony takes the most hits in the majority of them. After all they are just that - cartoons. And yes, I very much look forward to see what Nikon comes up with in their ML cameras.

Oh yeah, this could have been a bloody war! The cartoons are funny, at least for one side of the battle, but we still don't know who gets the last laugh.

I didn't do it in a Sony forum or even in the Open Talk forum. If I wanted to troll that is where I would have done it. You won't find any of my posts outside the Nikon or Open Talk forums because I feel the different groups need their space to say what they want.

At the risk of sounding like a politician , I am a fan of Sony and Nikon having used both for years. I believe outside of the vocal minority most Sony users have experience with either Canon or Nikon and they have some appreciation for their systems and understand the pros and cons. If there is a perception that most Sony users are by definition anti Nikon or Canon then I don't believe it to be true. If I could combine the Sony A7rIII with the D850 I would do it in a heartbeat and I'd love to find out on Aug 23 that Nikon has done just that.

Well, I just want to thank you for posting such a humorous thread. Those cartoons speak volumes and I think they're very funny. Very enjoyable.
