Im not a big fan of non L canon lenses, the price on 10-18stm looks god but im not shure about quality

Probably the go-to wide angle L - zoom is the 16-35mm f4. Not that wide on a crop though. If you want wider (in Canon) you either shell out big time for the 12-24mm EF or go with the EF-S UWA zooms.

I have a 11-22mm EF-M lens for my M5 which is a great UWA zoom, but no good for a 80D.

I have the Tokina 11-20 f2.8 on my 80d as the usual lens for landscape and astro. I know you prefer L lenses but just a thought. I also have the 17-40 f4 L, which performs well on my 80d at f11. However I find it not quite wide enough.

Canon chose not to make L lenses for the crop bodies, but there are some EF-S lenses that are just about as good as L lenses in optical performance and build: the 10-22 and the 17-55 being two. The 10-22 should certainly be considered for a crop body, but the cheaper, smaller, lighter 10-18 EF-S STM should not be ignored. All the reviews say it is optically very good, and it has the advantage of IS.

I actually have the 10-18mm STM and it seems cheap and feels kind of plasticky, but it is a wonderful wide angle! The glass is amazing and it was well worth buying.. Some of my best shots have been with that lens and I am very impressed with it. I’m attaching a few of the best with that lens...

Have you looked on the many photo hosting websites at images from the 10-18? Surely those will show if its up to your standard or not.

I have a 10-22 and I would not say it's nearly as good as an L lens. I have a 15-85 as well and I would say in the overlap region (15-22), my 15-85 is better than the 10-22.

Unless you beat your lenses around, the EF-S 10-18mm is a fairly well built lens for the money and should last a long time. The plastic mount isn't a concern because it is so small and lightweight it never has any stress put on it. Canon put the money toward what really counts with this lens... the glass. I have one and it is an excellent lens and the IS is very useful when hand holding in low light. As others have suggested, look at sample images from it and you might find it is more than adequate for your needs. Especially if you don't need a faster UWA lens.

If you want L level build quality and optical performance, then forget about the 10-18. I have it, it's a decent enough lens especially considering the low price, but it's nowhere near L lens quality. Go for the EF 11-24 F4L.

10-18 is fine but it's not aimed at shooters looking for the best quality. Optically, I find it quite competitive in the middle of the frame but falls short as you move toward the edges.

Well neither is the 80D. I find mine just fine, and yes, i have a lot of L lenses as well. Some people have to pixel peep and spend way more than they need, just so they can say they have the best., even if no one else see's it.

I enjoy my 10-18 but if you want better try the canon 11-22

The 11-22mm is an EF-M mount and will not work on an 80D. The 11-24mm L is about 9x the price of 10-18. Were you thinking of the 10-22mm - it doesn't have IS ?
