Went on a little Fall photo shoot. One of my first, so I'm not very good. Any suggestions or tips? I used the gear listed on the bottom of my post.

Plenty more light in this one, but the focal point is a little too close, everything from the tree and beyond is a touch soft; no big deal for online use but it wouldn't make a big print.

Cool, how did you do that to the pic with the light? Photoshop/Lightroom? I've been thinking of getting one of them.

A moment in Lightroom; it's worth the paltry monthly fee - when I started out, Photoshop was $600, so $10/mo is a blessing..

Is it easy to learn how to use? Always seemed complicated to me.
The photo-organizing portion is complicated, I don't use it as an organizer though, I just use it for edits. Editing is of course technical, but once you understand what to look for, what each slider does, you can edit the average "about right" pic into a "pretty much perfect" pic in a handful of seconds (and if you shoot RAW, you can edit a "direct to trash" pic into an "about right" pic, and/or reveal hidden details that weren't previously there.)

Just my own opinion and observation, I think it's worth the time and effort to shoot RAW and learn processing if you want to squeeze every last bit of image quality out of your camera; remember that when you shoot JPG, you are letting the camera do the processing for you, you can do it far better than the camera if you take the time to learn..

The expensive camera does not make a good photographer, a good photographer takes great pictures with any camera - GlobalTvlr

Wow, $10 a month doesn't seem like a bad deal.
it isn't if you do not want to go crazy with your editing there are free programs that are simpler or less popular

LR is easy to learn. Takes a while to learn well. Along time to master. PS is another story.......
Always seemed complicated to me.
have you tried it?

Compositionally they all lack interest. This may not be your fault, some places, even parks, are just plain boring. I went to my favorite park yesterday where I spent a few hours just a week ago and didn't take a single shot, everything was just plain brown, event the light was too dull. Keep trying. Something that I would recommend, look for contract between dark and bright; get closer, shoot one leaf instead of the whole tree; choose golden hour; Google for park pictures and try to replicate something that you really like.

Agree with the previous comment about composition because they lack interest, at least to the forumers here who shoot regularly. However, if you are a beginner, I would recommend take all shots you can even if the subject doesn't interest you. Then PP (Post Process) them, so you'll understand where you can do better and also learning PP while at it.

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!" - Wayne Gretzky. :)

Also great suggestions/advice about learning Lr! This is inevitable if you wish your pictures to look good.

Thanks, for the suggestions. I will keep them all in mind next time I go out shooting and will look more into PS/LR.

Right now I just have Pixlr and Fotor Photo Editor.
