Are there others that really don't want video?

How much cost do you think video adds to a camera?

If you want to save money on cameras, buy used, or stick with the camera you have.

If you don't want to use video, put electrical tape over the REC button of whatever camera you have. Or go back to film.

Demanding that camera companies abandon features that 99.99999999999999% of users want to fulfill contrarian whimsies is incredibly selfish and irrational.

I don't use the video features of any of my cameras, but I don't really mind having them. And I, as others have said, expect having camera models with and without video might actually increase the cost of our cameras.

He said 'digital version of the FM2', not a cheaply made hulk of a camera with poor controls that was made just to appeal to the retro crowd but ended up having no substance.
Have seen these in the wild at photo meetups. The owners get laughed at both infront of their faces and behind their backs.
Anyone who laughs at a camera owner because of the camera he uses is a fool. I've used virtually every film and digital camera model Nikon has manufactured since the late 70's. The Df makes fine images. If you can't use it effectively, you're a poor photographer.
And what would you call a camera that can have its functions changed while in the lock position?
Consider every pre-g AF series lens on any nikon camera. You set the stop to the minimum aperture displayed on the ring, then change your shooting aperture via a second control. Looking down at your displayed exposure = 1/250 @ F16. You're actual shooting aperture can be 16-1.4. Professional shooters understand and adapt to these compromises in design. If you are laughing at someone else's camera, the joke is on you.
Fine images? Perhaps.
No "perhaps" about it. The Df has an excellent sensor. I recently published a book shot with the 810 and Df - the images are indistinguishable from each other. Both are excellent quality files.
But you can take fine images with a box brownie as well.
Yep.
Fine controls and build quality? Absolutely not.
Sorry it doesn't work for you. Enjoy what works for you and leave others to their own choices.

I suggest that camers be made in two styles ..with video and without!
If the price would be lower, and/or, more features replaced the video I agree 100%. It is a feature I could easily life without.

On the other hand if they want the same price and the other features are exactly the same then I don't care

Don't want video, and resent paying more for cameras because they have video capability. If Nikon made a digital version of the FM2, I would be an early buyer.
I can take or leave video but truly I don't want 4K.

Why?
I wouldnt want it because it requires huge amounts of processing power and storage space and eats large amounts of battery power.

also I dont have anything I could even view 4k on and neither does anyone i know

Would prefer a camera that would concentrate on still shots an leave the video to the camcorders such as the Vixa HF R cameras.

Have you found a still camera with video that forces you to actually shoot video? If so, you should avoid that particular model.
