Canon EOS 7D mark II CR2 files picture viewer in windows 7

I just bought a Canon eos 7D2 and I love! I shot a bunch of BIF today, the af was fast and shooting at a higher iso (up to 6400) things looked good on the lcd....

I made it home and plugged in my CF card and sd card, I thought having the codec pack for my older cameras running the cr2 files It would be no problem uploading, editing and possibly writing a review of my first glance of this camera.

Turns out I am possibly SOL as I am running windows 7 and there is no codec for the newer 7D2 camera.?!

Does anyone have a solution for me. I want to view my images in the Windows preview.

The current Microsoft Camera Codec Pack shows my 7D II files no problem. Big fan of FastStone too.

As far as I know FastPictureViewer Codec Pack is the only option to get direct support for 7DII RAW files in Windows.

I own a 7D Mark II. I recently reinstalled Win 7 64-bit.

I went through my download library looking for a codec that enabled me to view CR2, PSD, and jpeg photos in Windows Photo Viewer. I tried 4-5 different codecs. The only codec that worked satisfactorily was FastPictureViewer.

Since I had purchased FPV a couple of years ago, the reinstall was free.

You could use Canon's free software that comes with the camera
