Dimage X - Unable to use SD card

I am getting the error "Unable to use card" when I plug in a new Sandisk 128 MB SD card for the Minolta Dimage X. I have followed the instructions to format the memory but it still shows the error. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong. Thanks.

Dr. Konrad, thanks for the suggestion. I checked and the write protection notch is in the same position as the 8MB SD which came with the camera so I believe it is not enabled.

Is it possiible that Dimage X is not compatible with 128 KB. Is there a limit as to how much memory you can pump into these gadgets.

Windows XP formats by default with FAT32 and you need just"FAT" for flashcard, Try to reformatt and change FAT32 to FAT.

I had same problem and my camera would not format the card until I used the card reader to format it first with FAT, not FAT32.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I had a bad memory card. I finally went back to the store to have the memory exchanged and now it works.

It should be formatted in the camera.

what you need is a program called SDFormatter, SD uses a very specific format this will reformat your disk to that format, then when you put it in your camera goto setup, and format the disk for the minolta, and whala! problem solved!

The strange things, I had been using a 512MB SD card for a while now and it is fine. However some of the software features on the camera 'disappeared', so suggestion anyone !? /// Tsk

I can't answer your question , but seeing as though you've hidden it in a 17 year old thread on a card not working in a camera , your unlikely to get any helpful response as whatever is the issue it's now't to do with the SD card .
