Hi All,

I'm tired of all this back & forth on the 828's CA issue. I'm hoping that the 828 users (please only 828 users) can respond to two questions.

1. Do your shots display CA (those lovely purple outlines).

and

2. Is the degree of CA a serious problem in your judgement.

If the poll shows there to be a real problem to the 828 users then maybe we can start to put together a series of pictures displaying the problem and then contact Sony with our efforts to see if the concerns (if they exist) can be addressed.

In my limited number of shots, I see some CA, but very, very little. It is not a serious problem so far for my camera. I will know more today.

I still say that it's how the camera is used and what is being shot.

in some situations and then the 717, v1 have the same problem. The 828 CA is being blown way out of reality. I am very happy with my images.

Very minimal and no more than my 717 or 707 did...

For most shots that do show some CA, it is barely visible even at 100% viewing...
2. Is the degree of CA a serious problem in your judgement.
NO...This issue is blown WAY out of proportion on this forum....

I was extremely worried after all the posts here...But I can definitely say to 7x7 owners that the 828 is a significant improvement overall and the CA issue is a relative non-issue if they are happy with the 7x7 images...

Question 1: Yes, but I will play around to avoid them. Using polarize filter and play around with the image, I hope it will not be a big issue.

Question 2: It is, but there are some other good features in the camera. This is a CON but there are a lot of PRO. I will learn how to play with that, and I will let you know.

1. Yes, I have seen a little. But I agree with others, as I get better at utilizing this camera to it's full potential, I think I can correction some of it.

2. For me, it is not a serious problem. If I want to use the full res and print it, I think post processing will take care of most of it. For Sony's sake, and some of the photographers who are more critical, it would be nice to see it corrected in future production. However, for some camera users, (I can't even call them photographers because they seem to spend more time bashing than shooting...) nothing Sony could do would make them happy.

Thank you for this poll, Harry.

I'm going to return my 828 and try to get another one with better
CA. I can salvage the images I have now with little problem but I
want a camera with less CA.
Can you???????????????????

Is there 828 with less CA????

?????

Andy

1) Yes, lots of purple CA with some cyan CA. Bad at all apertures
at the wide and telephoto ends of the lens.

2) Yes, a serious problem.

Would you keep us posted as to whether a different camera handles the problem differently? I suspect it does not but I hope I am wrong.

My 828 has CA. Flash shots (Built in) reflecting off of glass, windows, etc...

My flash photos using the F32x do not seem to show any CA. This is probably due to the fact that I almost always bounce it.

I have not taken enough outdoor photos to really get a grip on how bad this issue really is.

whether there is alot of CA or not, I bet you all will still get the camera as I know I will. I remember when the 707 & 717 was released... a million of complaints, especially CA. In the end, everyone got their hands on the 7x7 cams..

I suspect this is the same deal. It's just a matter of time until everyone stops bashing this awesome camera and take it for what it's worth. Besides, you won't find another top notch P&S camera as good as this one. I think this is the best all round all in 1 cam on the market.

Since so many of you out there are so damn anal, i suggest you all step it up and drop 2g's for a 10D and lug around 15+ lbs of lenes. Perhaps then you'll be less incline to complain about CA

The 828 is in a league of it's own, so take it for what it's worth

You have no right to call anyone in this thread any names. Those responding to this poll already own the camera. They know what they see and experience. They don't need the rhetoric about the camera; they've already put their money where your mouth is. Now they would like to see the bugs out. Wouldn't you?
