Welcome to The Weekly Image Thread

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT) and is open for submissions and discussions about images and processing techniques until the next Saturday, or the new thread is started. If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

I was going to look for a major project but went with something relatively straight forward instead.

Andrew

This is a single orf file developed in PSP as an HDR. It creates three files from the original and blends them. The result was then processed in my more or less normal workflow. Nothing was removed or altered in the processing. A rarity for me with automobile images.

An in camera stack, pretty much straight up.

An in camera stack processed OW with colour adjustments then in PSP and Nik.

The happy couple

Bride shot

Couple from the latest wedding I just finished. Flew in on Thursday night, wedding on Saturday, never got into the venue until 1100 on Saturday so everything was on the fly and seat of the pants. Turned out pretty well

Bride and Bridesmaids

The new family

Departing via sparkler sendoff

Few more from the latest wedding. This was the first wedding I've done using Pixelmator Pro as my PP software. Can't use and of my old PS programs on my new M1 Mac, refuse to be held hostage by Adobe, hence, Pixelmator, going to take me a while to get a new workflow sorted out, but hey, if at first you don't succeed

I did lots of wedding photography for forty years, Mark, and I find these excellent.
I did them for many many years, too, Rich, as did my Dad.

Never had better wedding cameras than a pair of Rolleicord Vb's. 12 images before a reload was needed. I used to be able to reload while running to the next scene. Had one prism that I swapped between the 2 bodies. And a stroboframe with a rolleifix on it (if you remember what that was),

That German glass had a magical way of rendering humans. Was "sharp, but smooth" as we used to say. The imagery was never topped by any other cameras I used over the many years.

Also used a "Rolleisoft 1" - a tiny bayonet filter for extra soft images...a piece of gear also never exceeded in the years to come.

Have some 8x10's around here, somewhere :-)

Cheers....

I wonder what equipment your dad used. I always wanted a Rollei with Zeiss lenses, but it was out of my price range. I used Eastman Color Negative 100T film, called 5254. It is cinematography film used in the old motion picture cameras. It was called a fine grain film at ASA 100, but could be pushed. I saw little, and usually no grain and it was made to respond well to artificial light. Just because of that film, I got better results and my clients loved the color and especially the skin tones. When I went to work for Motor Trend Magazine they tried to give me film, but I used 5254, at my own expense, and soon they were buying it for all. Rich

Ah man now I'm showing my age. I loved VPSIII as well as VHC. Shot with 500CMs at Edwards AFB, Bronica ETRs and Mamiya RZ 67s at Soesterberg AB. Thousands of images on 120 negatives. Flew with the ETRs and got some fantastic images out of the boom pods on KC-135s. Oh the days of the great yellow God, C-41RA, EP-2, and last but not least my favorite, E-6. Thousands of rolls of Ektachrome. My old beat up F-3HP with the MD-4.

Very nice work, Mark. You gotta love four thirds for the great DOF in the first. The dog was a great addition to that picture. Rich
Thanks Rich, I appreciate your compliments

Mark

Beautiful pictures Andrew.

Love the truck.

I like the Model TT, Andrew. It is a beauty. There was a bright orange azalea growing by the driveway out of one of the local fire substations. It had no pink like this one, just orange like a pumpkin. A fire truck in a hurry cut the corner and sheared it off. :-( The last one is a great color combination. Rich

The colours in the last image is really sumptuous Andrew. It's most unlike you to leave all these extraneous objects in the truck image. With your skills even moving that mountain wouldn't be a problem.😊

Dave

Very nice work indeed. Love the shot with the dog in his bow tie.

I shot a few weddings for family and friends back in the days of film. Don't think I've felt more under pressure before or since.

Dave

I admire anyone that even attempts to do people shots, let alone weddings. I hope the happy couple are happy

Aaah, wide angle...Nice. 🥰 Like #3 and #4 best.

I've been contemplating buying this lens. Are you satisfied with it? As you know I went in the other direction for now, but some time...

Talking about that,*it* has arrived and I'll fetch it later today. It came yesterday, but I'm waiting for another parcel too and it'll come in today. I don't want to enter the post office/tobacco shop twice if I don't need to. I'd say that shows I have character! A lot of it! 😊
