Welcome to The Weekly Image Thread

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT) and is open for submissions and discussions about images and processing techniques until the next Saturday, or the new thread is started. If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

Well these were still in the camera when I posted the previous thread but are the most recent images I have shot. I processed these this evening so they are hot off the press so to speak.

Andrew

a single image, crocuses. I should have cut the stamens out and collected them!

an in camera focus stack of 15 images. There was a bit of wind and it took quite a while to stack in camera. No tripod

a single image as well, magnolia buds not yet open

Very pretty, Andrew. We are getting some blooms here in Seattle and decent weather finally in the 50s, maybe 60s and 70s this week and sun! I need to get out there but I'm underwater on house projects.

The Covid restrictions are lifting and more of us are being vaccinated so the birds are going out to the pub for sunflower seed snacks.

More than that, Andrew. Had the outside of the house painted, working on the inside now. All new appliances. New water heater. New gas furnace if I can get the permit in a reasonable time. The city is backed up 13 weeks the gas company tells me.

Did some drywall crack patching, some damage from a chimney stone reface when the vendor covered it in stone. things I didn't get to last year include; adding tile in the living room, installing trim and grouting tile in the family room, rolling stain on the back deck, living room carpet repair. And the usual spring power wash the front deck and entry stairs yard and landscape work. Need to get this done in the next month or two.

I'll take yard photos in the bloom. Cherry tree coming out now.

I see early spring is with you now, Andrew. It always makes me feel better to see the spring colours

Our crocuses are long gone and the magnolias are either out or fading. We are moving onto late daffs and tulips now

No signs of the police stopping them for drinking and flying ?

Lovely images Andrew. We still don't have much in the way of flowers. Temperatures have dropped to below freezing these last few nights and it seems to have halted new growth. Days have been sunny so I mustn't complain.

Dave

You really know how to spoil your local birds Harvey.😊

A few days ago I drove to Crinan about 35 miles south of Oban for a walk along the banks of the Crinan Canal. It was a beautiful morning.

Looking seawards from the bridge over the River Add where I started the walk

Bellanoch Basin where boats can moor just off the canal.

When I reached Crinan, I climbed a small hill for the view out to sea.

I was able to walk through woodlands on the return walk and came across this sign.

Ruins can be seen in lower centre of image. The Canal dates back to the 18 century and cottages were built to house workers employed by the York Building Company who were employed in its construction.

Enjoyed that Dave. A different view of things. I do like a nice canal

A very nice set Dave. That castle even has cottages for holiday travel. I will bet they are not inexpensive! Perhaps the longest continuously occupied castle there, now that is quite the feat.

A great little tour Dave. The area where we live is relatively flat and generally uninteresting. I am jealous of your surroundings!

Andrew

A bird has to have some fun, Dave. Can't be all pecking and pooping.

That's an interesting place. Lots of variety in the landscape.
