I got a general-function lens and a macro lens. None of them cover over 95% of my shoots. What could I say...
If none of them cover 95% and they are the only ones you have, the answer is two.

With those two lenses, you cover over 95% of your shots. How was that difficult?

Depends if my phone counts as 3... also what about compact and action cameras, do they count as 1? Oh and is my Fuji W3 2? :-)
So leaving that up in the air I have:

EF:
8-15
50 Art
100 L Macro
24-105
100-400 II

m43:
12-60
35-100
45/1.2

Now I am using the 35-100 less, so probably keeps it at 95% without and I'm saying 7. The 16-35 probably just misses out too, so I left that off. It's tricky as I do use assorted lenses regularly and a lot of 0.3%-s add up fast.

1 to 2 lenses...

It depends on the system. For FF/35mm film its 28-75mm f/2.8 or 70-180 f/2.8.

With my crop sensor camera it’s 17-50mm f/2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8.

So 4 total, or 2 per system. 75% of that 95% is with the 28-75mm or its crop equivalent.

Did some ExifTool digging today and from 2017-2020 I generally use 4 lenses for 95% of my images.

What I found interesting was that generally 2 cover near 80%.

Whats more interesting to me is that 2 to 3 focal length ranges are about 75%, if I ignore the actual lens model: 500 - 600mm and 35mm. Which leads me to think that over time seems its more about the focal length, than about particular lenses. Starting some digging here, just out of curiosity. I think I know the answers, but its been fun to look :-D

If I follow the instructions to the T ( I'm not good at following instructions :-) ), and calculate since my last lens purchase its different lenses, but still 3-4 lenses. However this year has been so different for me it feels like an outlier, as I am sure it is for others.
