You did?
I have never done business with them.
Your loss.
Are they a reputable place to buy stuff?
Yes.
What's the catch?
None.
I do not want to use Paypal to buy.
You don't have to use Paypal.
Prefer credit card.
You can use that.
That's the deal-broker's website.
You're welcome.

Be sure the return policy of the retailer you are being hooked up with is satisfactory to you.

There is no catch. I got 5DIV for that price few weeks ago from a very reputable retailer.

You don't buy from CPW. CPW is simply a broker. Once you state that you'd like to buy, they'll send you the name of the retailer offering that deal and also send your information to the retailer who will send you an invoice.

There is none. CPW Street Price came into existence because Canon began enforcing the MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policy but some retailers wanted to continue selling below the MAP (which was not really enforced before) price. Sellers can sell for whatever price they want, they just can't ADVERTISE a lower price than Canon approves. So, Gordon contacted a lot of the "big dogs" in the industry with his plan, some agreed, some didn't. But the system works because there's no retailers name attached to the advertised price, so it's not a violation of MAP. So CPW makes a cut for their work. The retailer moves a large volume of product to buyers who typically buy higher end gear. And the customer gets a Canon USA warranted product below MAP.

Since it's the usual big retailers, they accept CC.
Sure. A caveat to the program is that you're not supposed to reveal the name of the retailer as that could be construed as advertising.

Edit: by the way, I have purchased several items through the street price program and had several different vendors. They have all been absolutely fantastic! One of them is a Canadian retailer who takes advantage of exchange rates to offer great deals. It's still a Canon USA warranted product, just check the warranty card, it says "North American Warranty".

No catch. You can pay however you want, you can ask questions before you buy about returns, warranty, rebates, etc.

I recently purchased a 16-35 f/4 and 135 f/2 through Canonpricewatch.

They are very reputable. I have purchased lots of gear through them. However, if your purchase is through a Canadian dealer (i.e. Big White) , the dealer will want to use PayPal. For USA purchases... no problem using a Visa card. I have purchased from Canada and the USA through CPW with no hiccups. I check CPW deals everyday.

No catch. Can pay however yout want. They put you in touch with Canon authorized dealer. I use them for ALL my Canon gear

Thank you all for the great info! I feel much more comfortable dealing with them

it was this price 4 months ago. I know, because I used them. highly recommended. Gordon is a great guy to deal with.

You can use a credit card on PayPal after listing it in your account. When you pay, PayPal defaults to your bank account but you can change it to use your credit card. I do this all the time. It minimizes the number of vendors that get my CC info but allows me to accumulate CC points.

Hope that helps. Michael

I have though of using CPW, but what is the chance of them getting a retailer that will force me to pay in state sales tax? Or do they look for retailer outside of my area?

zero chance. Nobody will force you to do anything you don't want to do. You will get a bill which you may pay..or not. CPW deals with the key reputable retailers (hint: some of them may or may not be located in NY and some may or may not be opened on Saturdays)

Bought it from them. Got a brand new USA 5D Mark IV.

You can request a retailer who doesn't charge sales tax to your state of residence. They may not have one but if they do, they'll match you up.

If I pay credit via PayPal to buy the camera. Will PayPal charge me a fee? Or the dealer pay PayPal a fee ?
