Ok there is an announcement coming but what is it would be allot more interesting.
Some are cheering, not sure what for? Because there finally announcing something?
I hold my cheers until I see what it is. Iam expecting to be disappointed like I have been for the last two 5D's. Hoping to be suprised but I doubt it.

Yep, I'm still interested but I don't think it'll be up to the level of a 1DmkIV unless they jack it up over $4k..........1 series shooters ought to consider a vacation from here for a week or two.

Although Nikon have thrown the gauntlet down already so Canon know what they are up against.Yep, I'm still interested but I don't think it'll be up to the level of a 1DmkIV unless they jack it up over $4k..........1 series shooters ought to consider a vacation from here for a week or two.

Definitely interesting. One of the largest resellers in Switzerland has no 5D Mark II listed in their Canon DSLR Stock. You cannot even order it any longer, it is completely removed from the article list. It just disappeared.

If the original 5D and the 5Dii disappointed you - prepare for another big time disappointment soon.

I haven't seen a single piece of convincing evidence that an announcement is coming, beyond you guys wanting it to happen, it's like you all get together and wish for something and eventually you collectively trick yourself into accepting your desires as truth.

YES they both did. I didnt want a FF 20D and still dont. Thats why i bought a used 1dsmk2. I did rent a 5d2 and like i thought it performed just like a 20D except even slower. no thanks. I like better bodied cameras. Yes the image quality was very good on 5D2. BUT thats it.
If canon thinks it can continue with a 20D type body in the next FF camera,. all I can say is it better be cheap. 2k and the very most. Then it will do OK. It wont get many 5D2 upgraders. But even if canon improves body to 7D level they still shoudnt ask more than 2k. But i think thats whats coming a FF 7D at about $2800.
Which again would be a disapointment. At 2K I might get one but still would like better body. Cant afford a 1Dx plus its rather low on rez for quality landscape, great for intended market sports/pj.

That would be wrong, the D800 is very pleasing.
Lets see if canon can match it in every way for 3 grand. If not I will get a D800. No use waiting 3 more years for one.

nonsense an announcement is coming soong for sure (unless canon played it foolishly conservatively with their 5D3 and realized a couple months ago that they had to rush back to the drawing board and soup it up)

But what I can say if your correct and nothing till fall 2012 then I see a fair amount of market loss from Canon to Nikon because of the D800. I will be one of those. Not that Canon is going out of the camera buisness but i bet they lose a good chunk of sales especially in lens purchases. 5D2 sales would drop greatly too.
it will really turn out bad for Canon depending how new 1dx compares to new D4. If D4 has better high iso canon will lose even more sales to nikon.
I will really be shocked if no announcement till fall.
