Hi everyone,

Today I have seen an interesting deal in a Shop: a new F200 (with 2 years guaranty) for 200€

I think it is a good price and a good camera. I also own a Canon G11, therefore some of the shortcomings of the F200 (results in HR / No Raw) should not be problematic for me.

I would use it as “portable” camera, like my F30. That means, for Bike rides, for Hiking and for everything when I need something lighter and smaller than the G11

How do you find it? Should I go for it?

Cheers and thank you in advance

Rubén

Dunno how much 200 Euros is but Fuji UK are doing "Refurbs" for £120 ..

I bought mine for 179€ new, with the same warranty.

However, 200€ is still a good deal, considering the MSRP price, and the very unique features the camera offers. Plus, no one knows whether the F200 will have a worthy successor. And the F200 becomes to be difficult to find.

The camera is easy to carry, has great image quality at ISO 100-400 (my former Canon had very good 80-100 IQ!), good 800 and usable 1600 iso (not on par with G11, though). However, the DR is very useful and no other camera manufacturer offers this.

I would advise you to go to the shop and try to use it and hold it in your hands. Ergonomically speaking, any Canon camera trumps it, imo. But I am ready to sacrifice a bit of ergonomics for what I get ;)

As Adam said Fuji UK, is where i recently bought mine for £119 sadly cannot have it till my Birthday which is in 10 days time just my luck :D

Before supplies ran out they were going for around 170 euro here.

As this camera is "too much" for some people you can also find lightly used ones for a lot less. I got mine with under 1000 clicks for 125 euro, including a second battery and an 8GB memory card (Sandisk).

Hi again,

You have really a bargain price in the UK! 200€ are around 165 pounds!

I know, that Fuji ergonomics are not the best...therefore my "main" camera is the G11 and the F30 "only" a support camera.

I have seen in the Spanish Fuji website and the F200 is no longer announced...I agree, it is not sure, that the F200 will have a worthy successor…

Probably I should think a little bit about it. Perhaps second hand is a good option.

Cheers and thank you for your responses,

Rubén

The F200EXR is great for bright sunny days when the G11 would wash out the sky and produce disappearing vegetation against bright backgrounds.

EXR is the only digital sensor that I like better than film in all ways. A DSLR can produce stunning resolution but still has problems with highlight burnout.

Well, it could happen if you do not look to the live histogram, do not use the nice Exposure wheel, omit the Raw and use the camera only in Auto.

Since I am using Digicams, I always expose to the lights in high contrast situation and in PP give more "live" to the shadows. And it works quite good.

I have F200 (and also have G11). F200 left me unhappy. I went for S90.
