Wouldn't want you to leave either. However, I think you ought to replace those 2 D60s with a couple of 1Ds and then get at least 1 1Ds when it hits.

Smallels,

There is only one person who thinks what-equipment-YOU-have, how much money YOU have, or whether YOU leave-or-stay is a big deal!

IMO everyone who is reasonably civil/personable is welcome here.

"Popularity" is another matter, ...it isn't gained by being a blowhard.

I tried to "be nice".

I didn't try to be subtle ;-)

I'm curious of what the 1200mm is good for, so personally I'd prefer it if you hung around atleast until you've posted some pictures taken with that thing. What you do afterwards is up to you. ;-)

(seeing as it's custom built, have they given you an estimate on when they'll be shipping it to you?)

but if you want me to vote you off the island, I'll do it (just as a courtesy gesture). Come to think of it, anyone who has a d60 deserves to be kicked off, we lowly d30 users are envious

Actually I think you should stay out until you learn that flaunting money around like a giddy baby in the face of others who have heavy responsibilities on their back is really not nice to them at all.

Doing an in your face thing about money in front of people who save big time just to buy a 28-135 lens is so self centered and crass. To me you aren't rich, just a poor man that has money. Your attitude comes across like a kid in a candy store rather than an adult in a candy store. Without restraint, the kid eventually gets sick.

Now you want a vote on wether you should stay or go. What is that about, a referendum or mandate to continue being insensitive to others?

On the other hand, that doesn't excuse the attitudes of the offended either. When others can afford the best we should be happy for them and realize there are people at different financial levels in this world. I don't believe in envying what others have.

So going or coming isn't the point. Loving your neighbor as yourself is . . .

hallo

I am here to learn... and sometimes to help... if I can... for me to be here is no contest... I am sure that nobody out there cares if I am here or not!

so... why is this important to you? and why do you think that "we" would like you to leave?

just be honest and treat others just the way you would like to be treated...

peter

ps. sorry for my english... hope you understand what i want to say...

Me, ...you're too kind.

It's not about wealth, ...it's about boorishness!

Hey Ben,

Remember when you were "DOCTOR Chang"?

Maybe Smallels could learn a little something from you.

Many of us just don't think this forum is about "impressing people", or prestige.

The "democratic" comaraderie of people bonded by our common interest is what we're here for.

Waving possessions, titles, or bankrolls only serves to feed the waver's ego.

To the thinking observer it only indicates emotional need, ...not a pretty sight.

Save that kind of thing for Mom, ...SHE'LL be interested, I'm sure.

[To be sure, though, a doctorate is certainly a more valid source of pride than dumb luck :-) ..there's a big difference between having EARNED something ...and just "having'"it.]

Being happy, delighted, and grateful are appropriate reactions to good fortune.
Nothing wrong with saying so, either!

But to simply wear a list of the things you have everywhere you go is saying something else.

I don't think Smallels should "leave", ...I just think he should try to control his need for the 'spotlight'.

I thought he was doing so, when he dropped his "I've got the most expensive stuff" so-called-signature.

This new thread makes me wonder.

(Smallels, next time you take all that money out to do some getting, ...get a life!)
