If Leica does do a D-Lux 4 you are in for a treat!

Oluv is just asking you a question......

Why so defensive ????

Its not an attack on your camera purchase or your work....

Defensive? I found nothing in my post defensive. I simply do not wish to peep at the pixels as I am happy. Can I not just be happy with my purchase and not want to look at each quadrant to study if it is slightly softer than the other?

You find me defensive for that?

I find your comment a little out of line, near offensive.

Agreed, this thing is AMAZING. My DLUX3 was stolen and I've been out of a compact for months now. Was holding out and glad I did. I prefer this over the leica... but I'm sure I'll prefer the dlux4 once it's out since I much favored the dlux3 over the LX2.

Just couldn't hold out any longer, but am VERY pleased with the LX3.

offensive ?

Don't get your shorts all in a bunch....

The guy just asked a question.....He has a problem with his camera and wanted to know if you were seeing similar problems....

.....LIGHTEN UP

Cheers

the LX3 is only temp camera as the Leica version will be out with in the next few months. It will do nicely in the interim.

For the prospective buyer who has paid amazon, but can still cancel, is there a lens issue with softness on one side when shooting at a particular FOV, aperture and angle?

I'm not a pixel peeper any more than I need to be, but making informed purchasing decisions is important. Would someone care to post a similar type of shot at f/5.6 of a subject about as far away and at the same angle noting how much closer the left side is to the camera. If I had an LX3, I'd be curious if I could reproduce such an effect and would surely post here.

get over it! Does this person need a mouth piece?

I have read you other posts you you enjoy getting into stuff like this.

I am out and will not respond again

Amazon allowed me to cancel when I got mine elsewhere.

Amazon has the MOST liberal policy on this and are great to deal with. If you want to cancel, you simply do so!

The LX3 does have it's problems, for me it is a toy to use till the D-Lux 4 arrives.

Good....

You are obviously dissapointed with your purchase....

I am sorry that your camera might have some flaws....

I hope you can get by that and enjoy it anyway....

Cheers

Greg, I can still cancel. You misread what I wrote.

"For the prospective buyer who has paid amazon, but can still cancel..."

No problem, however. Thanks for sharing your samples and thoughts about the camera. I'm still looking forward to receiving mine.

I contracted the seller and he allowed me to return my LX3 for a full refund. I did some detailed tests and there is a problem with the right hand side. Images are still good but my TZ5, M8 and D3 will take care of my needs till Leica launches their version of the LX3, the D-Lux 4

Shame, my first TZ5 was the same, the replacement is fine .. Hope Leica get weaving with their version so you can get back with it again - at least with Leica, they'll actually bother to QC the things so sample variation shouldn't be an issue - it's getting worse and worse across most makes thesedays

Hoping they read here and make sure that they get the cream of the crop.

Greg.... you might have just had an early run problem. This is a problem all early adopters risk having. As hard as they try to make a camera perfect when they first release it, there are always bugs that slip through. You can tell by all the firmware upgrades to cameras and even the constant need to upgrade computer operating systems.

Didn't the TZ5 have a blue banding problem? Once it was fixed, and it was easily fixed, the TZ5 became one of the very best cameras in that category. If the problem you had wasn't a complete one sample abberation, then it will be fixed.

Which is why I never try to be the first one to buy anything.

Panasonic FZ7, FZ30, LX2

This defect is not the end of the world for me as I have lots of equipment to used in the mean time. I am just hoping that the D-Lux 4 models has the bugs worked out. The LX3 was only a temp step to the D-Lux 4

The is not a big deal

Greg, your evaluation of this new camera has been very helpful; thanks!
Now, let us hope this problem would be corrected in Dlux4!

Louis
