Hi I was hoping someone out there could help me out as I really don’t know too much about cameras and SD cards.
I have an old 4 megapixel camera and I am planning to upgrade and replace it with the new Canon PowerShot G7 Digital Camera. The reviews look good and I liked the features it offered - 10 megapixel, 6 x Zoom and stabilization feature, excreta. So I decided to go and take a look at one.
I called one of the camera stores in my neighborhood on Thursday to see if they had any I could take a look at. They indeed had 4 in stock and a floor model I could play a round with. I didn’t have a chance to see it on Thursday but managed to go by on Friday night. Unfortunately by the time I got there they were all sold out! I guess it’s a hot camera. In any case, I saw the floor model and I really loved it.....
Any way, I spoke with a sales representative and he suggested if I do purchase the camera I should also I buy the SanDisk Extreme III 1.0 GB card (Price is 80.00 less the rebate 20.00). It also comes with bonus RescuePRO recovery software which retails for 40.00 on its own.
My questions are:
1. Is the SanDisk Extreme III over kill for the G7? I really wanted to get more memory.
2. Is this a good deal and just buy 2 units?
3. What I really want is to get an SD card for the G7 with the best write and read speed, with highest memory capacity available. Would someone know which SD card I should go with? ( 2GB, SanDisk HC 4GB , SanDisk Ultra II 2GB, SanDisk Extreme III 2.0 GB, Lexar 133x)
Hope someone can help because I am completely lost…..
