Yesterday I took pictures at a party, some with and some without the built-in flash. Suddenly I couldn't close the flash anymore. When I press it down it will pop-up right away.

I tried different things to get the flash to stick in the close position: I turned off the camera, switched through different modes, changed the power pack, removed the memory card, switched lenses. Nothing worked - to flash is still up.

Has anybody experienced this before? And is there an easy way to solve it?

The suggestion in the 1st response by The Davinator to this 15 year old thread didn't work for you?

Note that the OP that you replied to has not posted on DPR in the 15 years since this thread was started - seems unlikely that you will see a response from that person.

I suspect that you referred to this thread to read the solution and not to resurrect it from the dead by asking the same question again.

Did you read the very first reply to this 15 year old thread?
That explains the 10D .... but I have to admit, I like to dust off the 30D occasionally and shoot with it. It has the opposite problem in that the flash does not like to pop up unless I apply gentle pressure. Good thing I almost never use the built in flash.
