Michael Reichmann KNOWS something!

"Full Frame Timetable

Some folks on the Net's discussion boards have speculated that the development of Nikon's DX lenses means that Nikon is not going to be introducing a full frame digital sensor body. Nonsense! There is good information out there (as of mid-December, 2002) that Nikon will be introducing a full frame pro-level body at the PMA show in Las Vegas in early March. Bank on it!"

It's not like he himself is posting the link. He was asked not to post here anymore anyway and it looks like he is (reluctantly) honoring that request.
Frankly, I think this is just a clever ruse to advertise a
commercial web site, which is what LL is.

The included link takes you directly to the sales pitch for the
very expensive video journal subscription.

That's a clear violation of the the very first of the site rules
here which states: "Commercial advertising - Commercial website
linking or advertising is not allowed..."

Canon has a patent on a foveon type sensor so that in the 1Ds 11 would stand out, maybe too early for this though. The only other rumour that would really stand out would be the Nikon film-digital camera. However either of these would be very expenses and maybe too much so for a prize.

I love reading Michael Reichmann's site, especially the "What's
New" section. I also get the Video Journal he publishes on DVD -
it's better than any magazine you could ever get. But enough of
that. Here's something REALLY interesting -

Michael is having a contest to promote his Video Journal and he is
giving away a camera and a photo safari, he makes the following
statement:

"At Photokina in September, 2004 many new digital cameras will be
announced, but one will stand out from the crowd, and will be
available prior to Christmas, 2004. It could be yours!"

What the he!! does he know? Is the new camera that will "stand out
from the crowd" be the new 10D? I have to admit I am VERY curious
especially since Fuji is coming out with a new camera, and so is
Nikon.

What camera is going to "stand out from the crowd??????"

I know it isn't going to be the new 1Ds MkII because I doubt he is
giving away one of those cameras. So it may very well be a new
Canon, or maybe the new Minolta's with AntiShake right in the body.
Whatever it is - Michael KNOWS what it is!

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/new/index.shtml
read under the "Contest" word that is linked for the contest, but
right on the "what's new" page he makes his statement.

So what camera is it Michael?????

PS I put this in the 10D section too since it applys to the 10D
crowd too.

MR's point was that none of the 8mp prosumers clearly distinguish themself in image quality. Sure you can find differences digging around at 100%, but when printing, it'd be tough to pick out the 828 image verses the A2 image.

So when picking a camera, you have to look at the handling and features. And the A2 has (decent) handling and a GREAT feature: AS, that no other camera matches.

I'd have to agree with MR. AS is going to make a much bigger difference in shooting (especially because you are stuck at low iso) than another camera's image quality being marginally better.
specifics, it is the only camera at that level that makes sense to
someone that wants a tool in their hands.
I actually found the 828 to be the best as a tool, lovely handling
and superb build
Michael's work speaks for his abilities, plus the guy just pain out
and out has connections and has got integrity. So his statement is
pretty powerful.
I wasn't knocking him, just pointing out that people have different
priorities and absolute image quality in a Consumer Digicam isn't
one of them I guess. He hated the 8080 and didn't want to use it
where others would put up with it for the image quality alone.
Maybe his priorities in a DSLR are different either and the 10D-II
or whatever won't suit him even if its image quality is better than
the 1D-II

You complaining about me pointing out someone has a contest to give away a high end DSLR that hasn't been announced yet? With as many gear heads as we have on this site, you are just a tad bit off.

Do me a favor, don't skip a day of your medication anymore.

Plus I personally subscribe to the Video Jourmal and I think it's absolutely great. I get it, you should get it. I devour it every time it comes out. It is chock full of information. I can say I like something, and I just did. I have nothing to do with Michael's site personally, just like I have nothing to do with you personally. The point was the secret new camera anyway, everyone here wants in on secrets, well I just pointed one out. Take a full glass of water with your meds, they will go down better.

Um where did MR mention "DSLR"? Personally I doubt he is talking about a SLR type camera. (I'd suggest the Epson RD-1 as it is a very safe bet that there will be nothing else quite like it at Photokina, but it has already been announced and thus does not meet the "announced at Photokina" requirement :-))

I heard similar, but it won't be used until 2005.

Image stablilization is a biggie on a consumer camera!!

Well, the retail value stated on Michael's page says $1,500 if I read it right, so maybe it's the replacement for the 10D?

JonO.

Its definitaly the Minolta with the anti shake sensor. Thats what makes it stand out. Am guessing there using the same sony sensor Nikon uses for there d100/d70 so its the anti shake that makes it stand out. Mistry solved. Mark my words.

But hey, like I said I wouldn't mind if they do get together.

Should be an interesting Photokina!
