Yves, I completely agree with you, and the times I post, at least most if not all, are related to that, a question on either what I did, technique to share. At least that is what I try to do.
I have noticed, however, over recent months that more images are just posted as "See, here iti is!", and I can understand how some folks could be annoyed by this. It is a tough call, and now that I think about it, I would hate to see a prohibition on images in the forum.
I guess an ideal situation would be for anyone wanting people to see their images and just say "Wow", would be to post a message saying "go here in the galleries", and only post images in the forum with a technique question. Since it isn't an ideal world, and I'd hate to see that as a "rule", guess I'll just keep doing what I do with the image posts, just as I ignore threads that are not of interest.
On balance, though, I think I even learn from the "image only posts".
And your comment on the "community" aspect is a darned good one as well.
Thanks, Jollly and Yves, for getting me to think a bit more today.
The thing is many people post a picture here in the NSLRTF to
discuss a technique and some technical aspects of their Nikon
gears. It becomes a small community here and people get to know
each other better making it more propice for such posting.
For any of you who regularly peruse other manufacturer forums, do
you see the same thing there?
I propose a forum dedicated for all those sappy photographs of
family members, especially children, and cats.
Honestly, there's only so much I can take of children and cats.
