Samsung will neither confirm nor deny it has stopped making cameras following a tweet posted by Samsung India that suggests it may have officially pulled the plug.

Something that I hope Samsung will understand:

Sony appears to really push the E and FE mount with a very large range of cases and optics, including the Master G range. What is the future of the mount A?

Yutaka Iwatsuki - We have two reasons to keep the frame A. The first is that the frame A has certain advantages over the E mount and, for now, we can not have all the same functionality between the frame A and E. The second reason is that we also have a large fleet of a and optical many customers that we can not give up. It is a promise to our customers.

What do this have do do with NX ? Should you not post news about SONY:s mounts in the Sony forum?

That SONY tell something, yeah yeah, believe it if you want, I rather want silence.

Well, it is obvious what Ari want's to tell with his contribution above - some manufacturers do care about their customers, while other ones don't ... Quite clear to me.

Are you sure it is about to care or not to care about customers ?

Maybe it is business decisions only ?

Don't pretend that SONY or any other company will do anything else if it is a financial loss.
And >NX system is a financial loss for Samsung? I doubt that. Maybe they just want more profit? No patience. Typical for rapidly growing big multibranch company.

You are going to have to get used to this as Samsung have of late given us a text book example of how not to do it at an astounding level of non achievement at every level in their camera adventure. So it will be much discussed I am afraid.

Obvious Samsung is not the brand for you. So why are you posting here ?

Not the brand for anyone now is it? I am still interested in Samsung kit and as a compact user it is more likely now that we may see one of those appear than any NX stuff. It is going to become a legacy site as time goes on. I have an interest in what Samsung are going to do.

If you get upset on these future prognostications just ignore these discussions. I do not know what kit you have but I have had a lot of Samsung kit over the years so I am not sure how you think Samsung is not the brand for me. It is not the brand but Samsung's strange silence on their future intentions we are talking about here and it would only take a simple statement from them to stop all this speculation.

One of my favourite pictures from the good old days. Even then Samsung was missing opportunities as this was the first camera to capture stills seamlessly during video recording yet all the reviewers thought Olympus was the first with the SZ-30MR 6 months later. I remember the reviews were amazed at the Olympus and I thought I had been doing this for the last 6 months with the Sammy.

Ok, then it is not much to discuss.

Samsung just released a new camera, it is an ILC , it is also a case and a phone, this is what you should buy if interested in samsung. Buy it !

What is it called? I cannot find it on Samsung's site where NX is carrying on as normal and nothing on google. It is always a problem getting information and even you are being cryptic here.

Sorry, It is the S7 and S7 edge, it is only very short mentioned at the camera section at the presentation, it is very new, not in shops yet so information is difficult to find , can understand that.

At 20:27 starts the presentation of the camera, but the whole presentation is very nice if you like me is a geek ;)

camera division was merged with phone division for some time ago, so this is the result .

Thanks for coming back on that.

My Motorola E which I got from doubling up £40 of tesco vouchers I had for free plus an extra £10 does my smartphone requirements fine. The camera is pretty indifferent but I am still a camera fan and these top camera smartphones do not come cheap so the state of the art cameras are not quite the free extra they appear to be. Not an ILC either. I have a Nokia Lumix still on contract which is pretty good as a camera but very slow and fiddling around on the screen changing parameters is difficult and the Windows mobile does not run any mainstream apps such as remote camera.

The cameras are very good on mobiles but not for me as the experience using them is entirely different.

I dont mind the lack of coverage for FF, the flange distance is what kills the NX mount from the onset and it was the main reason I would not buy into it. It was a real shame because I love the way the NX1 handled, I just can't justify a long term commitment to the mount.
And yet with that flange distance they were able to create a series of compact prime lenses that no other APS-C system has come close to emulating. That is the real shame of the discontinuation of the NX mount.
and at a cost of limiting the number of vintage lenses that can be adapted, killing off any chance for speed boosters, and reducing chances for 3rd party support. I'll take having these over a few pancake primes any day.
Unless you only plan to get the M mount lens, basically all other lens mount can be used on the Samsung NX. But no speed booster. For me, the reason for using vintage lens is because of its rendering, so there is no way I am going to put a piece of modern glass in between just to more light. So its a matter of preference. To me, using a mirrorless camera without a few quality pancake prime is a bit pointless. Again, I guess its a matter of preference.
The M-mount is absolutely huge in the world of mirrorless hobbyists. You have a huge infrastructure of past and present Leica lenses, quality Cosina-made lenses, as well as an affluent user base. Looking at the Sony E-mount, there's a new third party adapter that brings autofocus to M-mount lenses.

Sony succeeded and Samsung made some very fundamental mistakes. In any case, it really doesn't matter anymore. At least Sony has a future.
Purely based on my participation and observations of various mirrorless camera based forums since 2009;

- Forum traffic relating to the use of adapted lenses peaked while the various mirrorless systems were in their infancy and tailed off as native lens ranges expanded.

- Forum traffic relating to the use of Leica M and screw mount lenses was always a minority compared to lenses from older SLR systems.

- The Leica M mount is still alive i.e. owners of Leica lenses usually own Leica cameras as well.

C'mon. Leica is Leica, a decent old camera manufacturer. Samsung is a giant conglomerate, not much system-camera manufacturer at all!

NX system was just a fun hobby to make some money for Samsung! This company took our money by promising system which it stopped after a few years! And you still laugh happily with your NX cameras?

what ?

Samsung made the first camera phone in the 90's and have been part of the SLR/DSLR transition from the start, it is not until the breakup with pentax they made the NX but they made DSLR before.

Leica is all about small analog rangefinders, in digital age leica is just playing catch up.

Sorry, but are you completely fresh person (anymore)?

You are talking about smartphones , NX system cameras and Pentax made DSLR cameras in the same sentence! There is no rhyme or reason. Okey. I see, you are a typical samsung cheap-jack?

Can you mount your NX system lenses to Samsung smartphone? How about Samsung flashguns?

Do you even know that Samsung didn't make any DSLR camera, the Pentax made so called Samsung DSLR cameras. And the system was Pentax K then.

It makes no sense to me to continue the discussion. It seems that this forum is full of easy fanboys, for whom the camera is almost the same as one in their Android smartphones.

You got what you deserved. Empty promises from the Korean impersonal multibranch company that took your money.

Yes , this is Samsung Talk, where to be a Samsung fan if not here ?

Samsung and Pentax made the cameras together in deep collaboration, They where released as Samsung GX and Pentax but was the same with a K-mount. It was highly awarded at the time.

Pentax K10D/Samsung GX10

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentax_K10D

A search at TIPA yields 9 results on LEICA from 1998-2015

A search at TIPA yields 16 camera results for Samsung 1994-2015

Purely based on my participation and observations of various mirrorless camera based forums since 2009;

I do not get what is your initiative coming here insulting people ("easy fanboys", "you got what you deserved")
Sorry, but I lost my temper. I lost it first time when I realized that the Samsung NX system will not continue. My investment has gone down the drain (NX500 + several samsung lenses). I do not understand why people still defend this fraudulent company.
, and he did NOT put "smartphones/NX/Pentax" in the same sentence, there is no "smartphones" mention in his last comment.

Camera phone? If it isn't smartphone, then what? And how much of it is relevant right now, in this discussion?

Second hand prices still hold up good, you can sell it.

It is not discontinued, camera division have been merged with phone division and busy, that is all.

If this makes you upset, sell it to someone who appreciate it.

It was a dumb phone if it was in the 90's I guess.

35mm cameras/camcorder/phone camera/dslr/NX/phone camera , see the red line? this is Samsung.

If you are not fine with owning NX because of this, sell it and buy a Leica.

Not for much longer. How can prices hold up, when the stores sell NX products such as discontinued products?

I will try it. If I can get more than $300 :-)

I can not imagine the relatively small NX sales were enough to cover all the development costs, quality products like the NX range of cameras, lenses and the sensors take a lot of time and money to develope prior to production, this all has to be paid for before any profit is made.
