Do the x10 complainers actually own the camera?

I'm just curious. It seems like 90% of the people that complain about the camera don't own it.
OMG, the people that fall into this category are freaks...
There are lots of noobs that rushed into the forum with their new toy and have demonstrated time and again that an excellent camera does little for a mediocre photographer. So ownership to me has always been a joke as a criteria for credibility.
Actually, are you guys even photographers?
Are you?
Let's play the who owns an x10 and is a photographer game. I'll go first and post a fun lighting test I did a while back:
Nice model. Nice light. Awful composition (someone else mentioned the drain, but it's just busy.) And terrible bokeh with motion blur. I've seen this phenomenon with the X10 before, and it is yet one more Achilles heel on an otherwise fine camera.

So ... you have set a really low bar in a thread that should not exist, since it is basically a platform for you to spout veiled ad hominem comments.

Those who 'complain' about it aren't saying 'it doesn't handle well' or 'it's too small' or 'the viewfinder isn't good enough'. Those would be things one might have to own the camera to really decide on.

What they are 'complaining' about is (that problem) in the output and whether you own the camera or not makes no difference.
Mind you - it would be a quieter world if they had their way and only owners were allowed to complain.. just imagine...

"Nukes are bad, no nukes"
"Sorry, you don't own any nukes - you have no right to complain"

"Car XYZ has bad brakes"
"Sorry - you don't own that car, you're not allowed to complain"
"Hang on, everyone who owned that car died from the bad brakes!!"

"Politicians are corrupt"

"Nope - you don't own any politicians, you aren't allowed to complain" (RIAA owns them..)

and I don't even know if such exists, but would it be possible to put a polarizing filter or any filter of some sort and see if that handles or at lease mitigates the orbs issue?

Maybe this is a stupid question but I was wondering...
It's not a stupid question, it's a good try at thinking 'outside the box' - but a polarizer is going to make nighttime shots virtually impossible, cutting down what little light there already is available.

in fact they're doing you a favour because it's the squeaky wheel which gets the Oil !!!!! - the Sigma SD14 never got fixed because the Purchase Defenders (which are far worse than fanboys or trolls) battered anyone who said a bad word about the badly designed Piece of garbage..
Actually the Sigma SD14 DID get fixed. The fix is called the SD15, and if you check the Sigma forum you will be able to see that the SD15 is regarded as the fix for the SD14. I have a SD15 and I agree with the Sigma forum (everything works!). Never owned a SD14 though. Apparently there were many problems with the SD14, and some of them were so deep that firmware could not fix them.

In terms of the Fuji X10, we might be able to expect the fixed X10 to be a X11 or something like that. Meanwhile on the Sigma forum we still see quite a few photos taken by SD14s, since the camera works well when carefully handled. In many ways this is a completely valid parallel for the X10!

"Forum lore" is not a synonym for "something I just made up".
Forum lore has it that a certain forum member, who happened to be one of the most vocal of the X10 critics, actually bought the camera in order to speak from the authoritative point of view of an X10 owner ...

Hi Kim,

You mentioned "terrible bokeh" with motion blur. Since you tested the X10, do you think it had anything to do with the high shutter speed at large apertures? (see my previous messages)

But on the bright side, these shots are way better than some landscape numbers we've seen lately. Way way better.

It was a lighting test or did you miss that part Kim?

OP has promised to post some actual purpose driven attempts with the X10...coming up.

Gary

Have you done any shots with higher shutter speeds than Fuji recommends (shutter speed indications in red) in Manual Mode with either the X10 or X100?

I'm curious to know, because I'm performing some comparison tests between X10 and X100.

No, it was a challenge to show the world how great photographer he is, he dared us to show if we can do better (then even his lighting test, which he probably did with 10% of his skill, and he is still far better then us). We should be thankful to read the words of such a master, and happy to feast our eyes on such skillful compositions, when he decides to teach us a little bit, and show us how the real pros do it.

Yes - we all need to bow down to the master in our midst. His turpulence permeates the forum, and we are better people just from reading his divine writings.

We would be in mortal danger if we were to actually be in his sublime and superhuman presence.

Wow, sounds like you have an axe to grind with the OP.
Lovers quarrel?

I'm just going by what he posted in the thread Kim is referring to.

This is strange!
I sense sarcasm..."Turpulence"? :D

Good, innit!!

A made up word from Knight's Tale, now with an Urban Dictionary entry..

"turpulence: A tumultuous explosion of persona resulting in a feeling of total envelopment by another person's presence."

Words are such fun..

I'm sorry, being a total amateur, but no matter how many times I look at the pic my first thought is Photoshop
