A little O.T. but hey I thought it would be an interesting question. If you could travel anywhere on earth and take a picture (or pictures) what would it be of?

My answer: The Taj Mahal.

Thanks,

John L

I like the jasper johns theory of creating art:
"Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it."

That said, my answer would be something like:

A nude, in front of the Taj Mahal. But, since that might prove offensive to some, i'll go with A Female Nude on the Seychelles Islands. Or, Tahiti, or Thailand, or Santorini, or Rio.... whatever. You get the point. I can't imagine a more interesting subject than a beautiful woman, where ever it is.....

Sometimes the location is irrelevant! :-)

But I'd like to go to Machu Pichu! That to me would be a fascinating place to shoot. I'm going to Maine this fall for some time with the d60, that's a great place too, especially with my Piezotones for my 1280 on their way!!! :-)

Jesus coming back. But then, under the circumstances, why would I care about the picture?

Don't say this was off topic, either. ;)

Nov. 22, 1963, to be exact, and be standing on the curb on Elm Street in downtown Dallas with an EOS 1VHS or 1D when that motorcade went by.

If I was there...and recorded those images...nobody in their right mind would ask "What shutter speed and aperture did you use?" or "What was your metering?"

How about the volcanoe Pacaya, in Guatemala, erupting spectacularly?

This was all I DID get, from about 20-25 miles away (forgive the noise, please):

  • Canon EOS D-30 & PowerShot S100
  • Maybe one day I'll take a decent picture. In the meantime, I'll blame the equipment. :)

This is a pointless question. As question like: if you had only wish to come true, what would it be? Why bother with such questions? If I could travel around the world, I would take pictures of EVERYTHING beautiful I see on my way. Imagine such a vast portfolio of beautiful pics compared to one photo of Taj Mahal.

Seriously, someday I want to do one of those photo safaris and take pictures of Elephants. While they're still there.

I once shot a girl who then became an S.I. Swimsuit girl. That counts for something, right?

Scooter, did you buy them as 'Sundance' from Digital Art Supplies or from Piezo, etc.? They are now available from the original supplier (Sundance who supplied Piezo) and you might be interested in this link http://www.digitalartsupplies.com/quadblacwari.html

I have considered them for awhile since I do a lot of b/w, but hate to make my 1280 a dedicated b/w printer--and so far these are not available for my 875/780. I'm sort of waiting on feedback from the 2200, but may decide to go this way yet.
