Digital Depot have a good price on Refurb C700s, they of course come with a 12 month guarantee - £300 if I remember - give them a ring :) - shame they couldn't get any more UZIs they struggled to get mine..

You got it all wrong :) its the C-720 and it's 8x. No manual focus with the C720 though..and no external flash or one touch white balance. You gain 1mp more.

That's what i use and I am quite happy with it. The macro is at
2" but if you use closeup filters it will let you focus at 1".

here are my gallery with sample images:

there is enough manual features to keep anyone happy for a long
time and the zoom is great. The camera is small and sturdy enough.

We've GOT to have something Daniella!, we don't get freebies like NiMh batts, chargers, Photoshop, Genuine fractals, Rebates etc and we pay £ for $ - and even MORE in the case of the likes of the 707 which is the equivalent of $1350 over here!. (which also has a 12 month warranty - HOW Sony get away with 3 months in the USA is a mystery) - the only good thing about buying cameras in the UK is the statutary 12month warranty everything has to have, though this DOESN'T cover refurbs usually so it must be Oly, Canon, Fuji etc..

If Digicams actually went through QC and were more reliable, I'd not buy a new one in this country ever again!.

Did you try it for size, wondering about small hands handling this camera
but maybe you already checked that, what a lucky kid! Happy Birthday
to him, enjoy!

At 6 yrs old, I probably got an old Browning(something like that) that didn't work. Lucky kid!!

Had both c2100 and c700 at same time. Kept the uzi. Love it.

The 720, I think, BTW, had a different optical setup.--but you already made a great choice.

Dad is one great photographer--wow! I noted you live in Tn. If you get to Texas and want to see some incredible birds for this continent--take your family to Big Bend National Park for unbelievable wildlife and birds.

Your son needs a great trip to go along with the great camera and great dad. Do you give photography lessons? Wonderful shot of the white feathered bird. Your son will likely be a 'feather off the old bird'...

You have made a wise choice for your son, David. He's going to love the camera.

Someone in another post was concerned about the UZI and your sons small hands. My nephew is only 4 years old and he has no problem taking pictures with my UZI.

You are too nice! I can't wait till he gets his first shot of a bird on the feeders! :-)

No I don't teach...heck...i am still learning! I did tell my son that if I get him a new camera that he has to let me teach him how to use it and to practice with me...we will see how that flies on Saturday! :-)

The c2100 size isn't too much of a size problem, my 6yr old daughter handles the camera fine, except, she has a nasty habit of framing her shot pressing the shutter release and looking up from the camera, or generally moving the camera away from her face.
