Who's got an external flash for their 950...what kind of support bracket do you use?

And where do you get the flash cable?

Which Nikon Flash is recommended?

Also, does anyone make a telephone adapter for the 950... all I've seen are wide-angle stuff.

tnx. Bill

Hopefully future cameras will have plug for external power for the camera.
NiMH are on their way as we speak as well as two 48MB CF cards.

Thanks to those who ever posted about the CF for $99 bucks...saved some bucks!

I just had a brain fart... there is a 6.5 DC adapter on the camera.

Who knows of a company that may have battery that clips on your belt and
plugs in the recepticel... tnx.

Hey Bill,
This Forum is not for people that are lazy.
First of all telephone adapters are NOT available anywhere!
Nikon makes a flash-bracket as well a hot shoe adapter.
You can get it from the Nikon web-site.

I won't even tell you how to get there because I do not think I want to chew your food for you.
Read your Damn instruction sheets before you waste these good people's time!!!!!

Hoo Boy! Did somebody forget to take their medication? :)

Anyway...

The Nikon Flash bracket (SK-E900) is in short supply these days. Try...

If you are looking for a telephoto adapter, Nikon does offer the TC-2E 2X Tele Lens Adapter. try...

A good place to check for extra accesories is http://www.ckcpower.com

They sell an inexpensive flash bracket (you will still need the adapter "CUBE" that the flash plugs into{?})

They also sell monoculars that can extend the zoom much farther than the Nikon 2x convertor (Image quality suffers a bit though)

Well Andy,
You sure have a lot of time on your hands to babysit people.
No one will ever grow up this way!
Nikon was blamed for not giving a good enough a manual for the camera.
Could it be they know that people do not read them anyway!

It's called pointing someone in the right direction. I used JUST as much time and effort as you did, except in a POSITIVE direction. Sure, you may have considered this person a bit 'slow', but perhaps he was frustrated! I've been there...a lot of people who read these forums every day have been there! I work with computers and electronics in MANY facets of my life...from digital cameras, to printing, to web development, to database development, to graphic design, to programming (VB, Java, C++, Perl, etc...) to systems configuration, to overclocking, to networking, to yadda yadda yadda. And believe me, if it weren't for the kind thoughful responces to a few of my 'DUMB' questions, I would not be where I am today! Many times, I have been at the brink of giving up on something, when miraculously, I stumbled upon a post somewhere that MADE MY DAY! Little did I know that before reading certain posts, I was many times 99% percent THERE! Reading the post pushed me that extra little bit that was nessesary to get the there. I was not some stupid NEWBIE poking his stupid head where it did not belong...I was an exasperated seeker of truth, weary of the last 18 hours spent in front of the phosphor glow. And furthermore, perhaps he was not the only one who benefited...One person can have his post answered, but many MANY people read the answer. Do THEY not benefit as well? Perhaps only 25% of my answer was helpful to 5% of the people reading it. Does that make it a waste?

I wish I were as perfect as yourself, never needing to query other human beings for the answers to the questions that torment me. Unfortunately, I am a mere mortal, and when others ask, I try to help. Let's just call it Karma.

Well said, Andy.

I have, like you, spent a lot of time with computers, programming etc. over the last 13 years. I've learnt a heck of a lot from people who were kind and thoughtful. As I learned I passed on the knowledge and experience to the newbies that came along. Jeff Dunteman wrote an article about this in a magazine many many moons ago. It was called "Paying Forward". I liked the quirky term. You learn from experts whom you can't ever repay, so you pass the knowledge "forward" to the next generation!

Now I find myself a newbie in the world of digital photography and I'm glad to find considerate (and patient!) people like yourself.

Hi Andy,

although I love to read your dispute about "helping newbees" I would like to know if this "Cube" (AS-E900) is also

able to syncronize a standard non Nikon flash with only 2 contacts. Or is there any other conversion cable for this
problem....

Greetings, Karl

TO ANDY!!!

I like your style....................

Newbees like me read the forum to get the answers for ALL the questions that might come in the near future.......not just to the ones Rinus asks himself after spending a million on internet bills finding a gadget he hopes noone finds at the same price. Especialy not a "newbee"!!!!!!

So Rinus......stick to opening the forum titles you know you can handle..........

Bill ,
Just got my SB22s from bhphotovideo.com
I paid 132.955 (grey market price)including shipping 2nd day.
It also has an external pc-flash connector on it (SB22)which Nikon
tech said won't put 950 in harms way when attached to ANY other flash.
. Bracket Nikon sells for 950 already has cable.
