Both mate, 1.6 crop for consumer DSLR's and full frame above a certain price point for semi-pro and pro and rich kids.
To be frank, I'd love a 5D, but I also love my 20D. It was heart ache enough selling my 300D!

3k USD is the rumour, I'm still not sure what to do, sounds like 9 point AF & the main thing I want is better AF, it'll be interesting to see what the D200 spec's are.

The word "rumor" means that people are just passing around what they think might happen. The article somehow states they are 98% certain, although I have no idea why they are so confident based on a "contact of a friend of a friend." They also say they may be wrong.
This is not the same thing as real.

How long have you been on this forum? This is exactly how the 300D, 350D, 20D and 1DmkII news broke....Trust me, bookmark this post and check back at the end of the month when the official announcment will be made and compare the two. There maybe a little spec detail confusion but on the whole it'll be accurate.

Just my opinion - hope I don't eat these words....
I don't see the 20D successor being this camera -This appears to be a pro body (no built in flash which would be a prerequisite for a mid consumer/prosumer/advanced amatuer body)
Sorry guys, I suspect a fake - I don't think Canon's marketing team is this bad.
Now change the sensor back to 1.6 crop and give it a built in flash and it sounds more likely to me - but again - just my opinion. I'm just as curious as the rest of you to see what they tosss out.
This could well be some good photoshop tossed out to the rumormongers to get the buzz started...free publicity and all..

This certainly isn't the successor to the 20D, although I don't doubt it may be real (no-one knows for sure obvoiusly). The 20D's successor will have to be similarly priced, have a built-in flash, and accept EF-S lenses. This camera doesn't meet any of those criteria (it's not in the same class), therefore if it is released, it would just be considered another option in the Canon lineup, not the next 20D.
It seems Canon's product releases don't follow what most of us want anyways (except for the 350D maybe!), so if they release this camera, I won't be surprised. It won't be a camera for most of us (like the 20D is), but the pros will certainly consider it.

The pdf that is going around with the part italian and the english specs is fake. The pictures very clearly show a body without internal flash and the specs talk about the flash (separately from the external flash).
But something may still be up because direct links to the images are disappearing misteriously. This must indicate that Phil has something under embargo and is doing his best to avoid any picture to show up directly from the forums. So something is coming, it's just not clear what it will be. However, judging from the 18 month cycle from the past a new full frame camera is unlikely. The 1Ds II is too new. A new 20D is unlikely because it is only at the 12 month mark. What is likely is a new 1D mkII N because it is at the 18 month mark. So I would be willing to believe a new 1.3 crop camera is coming out.

if you look at the 1D II..it is very similar.
this is not a reliable source, so it should be discarded immediatly.

As far as I can see from the pic of the camera, the EOS 5D is stiched on. Label does not look real at all.
