My Shameful Secret (Rated F)!

Wow, on my screen the whole photo has a complete green cast to it.
Doesn't look bad, just different. I'll review it again when I get
home. never can trust these cheap work computers.

Just for reference, the pedels on the flower look radioactively green.

I just looked back at the original, and the large copy on pbase. I do see a green case, the flower is newly opened, but I don't fine it to be excessive? FYI, the surrounding flora was green lilly pads and seed pods, but I purposely deemphised them with Curves.

Come on, buddy ;-) I take nothing but flowers and bugs. But I have
thick enough skin to keep posting one after another. It is a lotus,
right ? Lotus belong to the highest class of all the flowers. It
has something to do with Buddha. Lotus grow on mud. But the flowers
are absolutely pure in colors and texture. It is not supposed to be
a flower of this earthly world.

And you do it very well. I'm further ashamed to admit that I take their pictures without knowing their names, or getting them to sign a release. I guess I'm worse than I thought .

It was growing in a pond along with hundreds of its family members. I have a couple of other pictures from there to post "later".

Ok, I grabbed the one off pbase and stick it into photoshop and did an autocorrect on it. Sure enough, the green is gone.



No that this is any better, in fact, it still needs a little adjustment, but I don't know, just seem to look natural...

Looks can be, and in this case are, deceiving. The actual color was the yellow toward green, not white. Admittedly, this one is a bit more toward green than some of the others. Probably as a result of adjusting for texture and luminosity rather than color.

I was trying to figure out what a 'Wort' was on the Blue Ridge Parkway LOL--my 'stomping grounds'. Otherwise known as a Spiderwort here--I have blue, towards magenta and white--all native.

BTW, I believe your yellow flower is a tropical water lily--and they are sometimes pretty strange in coloration. My yellows (perennials, not tropicals) are toward the greenish yellow as opposed to a 'warm' yellow. Someone recolored it as lavender/blue. In fact, I have 2 tropicals in bloom today that look almost exactly like that. Lilies, esp. tropicals, can be interesting colors. Hugh, you mentioned the lily pads, etc.--I find sometimes the green pads, water, etc.--do certainly reflect and affect the yellows particularly in my pond.

BTW, this is very pretty--and I like flower pictures. I can't keep myself from photographing them either--but you notice I generally mention my IR and b/w galleries instead of my 'flora and fauna' gallery LOLOL.

Flowers? The best to capture for improving closeup & macro skills. Advantages: Show detail, Variety, No rushing... so relaxing, Your outdoors, Privacy. If the plants are gone so is our atmosphere and us. Maybe like the Moon.

I love your flower shots. I love to take pictures of flowers. Maybe its just me but I want to get close, right inside the flower if I can. There is color and design and stuff up close that you can even see with the naked eye. I have a standing inviatation from the local nursery. I sometimes go early in the morning and spent a couple of hours at the flower nursery. There are certain flowers that I will probably purchase just so I can bring them inside and get the lighting just the way I want it for that perfect shot.
