REMINDER: We have 5 votes each, please vote for your 5 favorite photos.

GUIDELINES:
  • Post one (1) photo per participant.
  • Categories: anything you wish - landscapes, portraits, birds, sports, abstract, your choice.
  • Your photo must be no older than 2 weeks from the date you submitted it. (* see explanation below)
  • Use any Nikon DX or FX camera.
  • This thread ends one week from the start at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (-6 GMT).
  • Next thread begins after winners are announced.
VOTING: Please remember to vote.
  • Vote for your 5 favorites by clicking the “Like” button beside the photos.
  • Voting begins anytime, ends one week from the start at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (-6 GMT)
  • Anyone may vote, even if you didn't post an image.
  • I would suggest before voting to take the time to look at the images in full size.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - Please read the 2 items below and follow the instructions - thanks.
  1. Please reply to the first(original) post and please replace the subject title with the title of your photograph.
  2. When you make a comment please do not re-post the person’s photo so that we don’t end up with multiple copies of the same image, it makes voting confusing.
OBJECTIVES:

The main objective of this event is to get people taking photos on a weekly basis and sharing their single best shot of the week with the rest of us, all in a spirit of light-hearted fun. It’s hoped that participation in this thread will foster community building among the participants, plus motivate us to keep improving our photography skills ranging from creative imagining, to shooting, to processing. The weekly voting is not intended to make this into a highly competitive “contest”, but to provide a sufficient level of motivation to maintain interest over the long term. If you have any questions they were probably addressed in the original discussion thread which you can find at this link:http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3479611

* EXPLANATION for eligible dates of photos:

Why a 2-week period for photos? A one week period was decided to not be long enough to find a subject and to do a good job on the shooting, processing and selection. Since the main objective of this challenge is to get us out taking photos on a regular basis rather than just posting old photos from our archives, there's no real difference between one week old photos and two week old photos, they're all new and fresh. Hopefully, this will give those who felt rushed a little more time to relax, enjoy and participate

... Well, this will be my last submission for a few weeks. Selling my D7100 this evening, and pre-ordering a D7200. Pretty enthusiastic.

I had 30 minutes to kill... waiting for someone to finish-up a doctor's appointment... so rather than sit in the lobby, I went for a quick walk looking for some architectural lines and angles. Found plenty. Here's one (I noticed the "The English Patient" as I was cropping the pic) :

Hi Draacor,

I really love this image, it's so nice and clean and bright..., the colours are perfect and not over done as is so often the case with landscapes at sites like 500px (my image this week is over done as well... I'm just starting out in landscape photography and I just can't seem to take my foot off the saturation accelerator. LOL!).

I pixel-peeped your image at full size and your D800 and 16-35m lens came through with shining colours, perfectly sharp throughout. Not that I am any kind of competent judge, but for my tastes this is one the best landscape images ever posted in this thread.

Cheers,
Rudy

Where 3 of England's counties meet. A beautiful little spot. I rarely do landscape photography, but couldn't resist the urge here.

thank you so much for the kind words :) I am really really loving the D800 and 16-35 F4 combo. I just picked it up and can find hardly anything to complain about really. I almost got the 14-24 instead and just very glad i didn't, mostly because i can now still use my filters :) I also feel like where i live really gives me some inspiration to go shooting. Its so beautiful here.

I almost bought a D800 last week and was planning on getting a 16-35mm. I've done a fair bit of research and this seems to be the combination of choice (D810/800/800e + 16-35mm). Being on a bit of a budget and being pretty happy with my D7100 and lenses I decided to try landscapes with my DX gear for next 6 months or so to see if I'm actually any good at this or not, rather than wildlife which is all I've ever done. Plus I want to see if anyone might be interested in buying some of my prints in large format. If these two things look promising over the next number of months then I will start in earnest looking for a good used D800 and a 16-35mm. Right now it's learn and practice!

I have the 16-35 but I've also heard good things about the 18-35, and I'm certainly in the market for the 20 1.8 or/and the Sigma 24 1.4

i had the d7100 but wanted to go full frame, bought both my D800 and 16-35 used. Used is the best as long as you get it from a reputable source of course :) ive always loved your wildlife shots, and your landscape shots are beautiful as well, cant wait to see what you could do with a d800 lol :)

My daughter skates for the University of Maryland (note the colors of her dress). This was shot at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championship held last weekend. The Maryland Terrapins did not win but they put on a great show.

She was one of 16 total skaters on the ice at this time.
