Z7ii - any shutter speeds to avoid?

I am waiting for my Z7ii and going through old settings worksheets of D7200 and D810.

With DSLRs, each camera has some shutter speeds we should avoid because of shutter shock or mirror slap. While ML cameras don't have the mirror box, they do have mechanical shutter.

Are there any shutter speeds that should be avoided on the Z7 for those reasons, or any other reasons?

I usually have 1/100 as minimum shutter speed in Aperture-priority. A majority of the photos end up with that shutter speed.

Thanks.

I will use very slow shutter speeds handheld on my Z6. The camera VR is effective.

At 24mm, I can easily handhold 1/10 second, and can get a few sharp photos at 1/2 second out of a continuous set, if I'm careful how I brace the camera.

The mechanical shutter has three settings:

Menu button --> Custom settings --> d5: Shutter type

Auto, Mechanical, or Electronic front curtain (EFCS) mechanical.

(There's also the electronic shutter instead of the mechanical. It's set by Silent Photography on the Z7 cameras. This works fine, but since the sensor scan from top to bottom takes about 1/15 second, moving subjects can quite easily show "rolling shutter" effects.)

~~

It defaults to Auto, and I never change this.

Auto will shoot EFCS below 1/250 sec, I think. The shutter is already open, for the camera live feed. EFCS just resets the sensor, does the exposure, then uses the mechanical shutter to close the exposure.

These lower shutter speeds can cause shutter shock blur in full mechanical, where the shutter first closes, immediately opens to start the exposure, then closes to finish the exposure.

At faster shutter speeds, the switch to full mechanical doesn't cause any problems.

With the Z cameras you can use electronic first-curtain shutter (EFCS), which eliminates the problem of shutter shock.

With my Z7 I never have to worry about shutter shock, regardless of speed.

You should be fine at 1/100s. I haven't seen any real evidence of issues relating to shutter speed (at least from the perspective of shutter shock which I think is maybe what you're getting at). I kept EFCS turned on whenever possible (except when using flash/strobes). If you leave the MS to Auto the camera will use EFCS up to about 1/250s I think and then switch to the regular MS which should be fine beyond that point. The only caveat to EFCS is it caps out at 1/2000s which should be enough for most applications. If you're doing landscapes, you can also just use ES if you're concerned about vibration from the shutter (as long as there isn't any artificial lighting or subjects moving around quickly that could cause banding and/or warping from rolling shutter).
