i have a z30 with firmware version 1.00 and want to upgrade to 1.2. going to "Nikon | Download center | Z 30" download site. it said size was 34.9 MB but only downloaded 34.5 MB. using the downloaded file my z30 locked up at about 1/5 progress. luckily by removing the battery i could still use 1.00 version. i tried several browsers to download and they all resulted in 34.5 MB.

my question how do i upgrade my z30?

thanks,

I doubt the file is getting corrupted, as there are internal checksums. Did you try a different card?

Also, Snapbridge can be used to install new firmware over Wifi.

I prefer the card method, but I'd be a little shell shocked with a lockup/freeze. I think you're very lucky it wasn't bricked! Have you tried using the SnapBridge app to update your firmware? I've used it, and AI says the Z30 supports this method.
