White birds can be difficult to keep feather detail, so I am always trying to do my best when I get a suitable, and obliging, subject.

I'm still trying Topaz and Neat Image to find the best results.

I wondered why the ball kept getting bigger, then it hit me.

A difficult ask to maintain detail in the whites as well as the general brightness of the scene. I suggest that you have too much contrast as the scene would have almost no dynamic range, just whites and mid tones Try opening up the blacks and shadows. Also the darker parts like the legs have haloing from either a selection or sharpening. Viewed at magnified original size.

A very difficult scene to capture and you have managed to get a lot of feather detail, but the cost is that overall it is too dark, in my opinion

I was "3rd pilot" on a flight from Copenhagen to Aalborg...

Last week, on a flight from Copenhagen to Aalborg, the plane was overbooked and staff asked if someone was willing to sit in the cockpit with the pilots. I quickly "volunteered"...

And when the pilots also allowed me to shot all the photos I wanted to, I was happy like I was a little boy again... :-)

Just made this one with R7, ef100mm 2.8 and a Raynox 250 (closeup filter). 9 images stacked to get entire front in focus

Too dark... OK

After my first two outings with the R7 I've been concerned about the focusing. I went to a local park this evening for a few more test shots after changing some focus settings. There were only two killdeer there, nothing else. So no in flight or moving subject testing.

Hi DannH,

A terrific set of images - and a tough choice, but this one is (just) our favourite.

Merlin tells me that this is a juvenile red-tailed hawk. They don't get the red tail until they mature. This one was hanging around the yard. I'm not sure what the bird was hunting since most of the squirrels have disappeared since the hawks took residence.

I took these shots with the R7/100-500 combo, which works well. I believe I get significantly more reach with the R7 than with my R5, but I haven't tested. It definitely helped here. Some of these are cropped down to 6MP.

Went camping with my son at Blue Lakes in California. Was a great time and the weather was just perfect. I had a timelapse of the milky way but cut it too short because i didn't think it would turn out as there were too many clouds at the time. Oh well, going camping again this weekend, maybe ill get lucky again.

Hello,

I recently made the jump from Fujifilm to the R5.

Here's a result I am pretty happy with so far.

He's name is Tulkas

I'd appreciate some CC on this.

Hi Okand,

What an absolute little cutie.

Our CC (take it or leave it!) is - nice composition, a difficult subject to judge the aperture (in terms of the distance between the eyes and the nose - to get both in focus) and exposure (dark eyes and white fur). Overall a very fine outcome which you should be pleased with.

Camera settings wise, we suggest you consider increasing the depth of field to extend the 'in focus' parts of the creature's head and potentially also apply a little negative exposure compensation to reduce the liklihood of blow-out on the white fur.

In post, consider using a very subtle adjustment brush on the eyes (add a little exposure, lift the shadows a tad, boost the whites a smidge, add some texture and a hint of colour) and maybe a VERY subtle adjustment brush to the white fur (pull back highlights/ add texture).

Compare the results and see if any of this works for you and which you prefer.

A shot of Team 9 from this morning's start line. The PMC is a cycling fundraiser that takes place in MA, USA. It raises money for the Dana Farber Cancer Research and Treatment Institute.

Hi dmanthree,

A green capture of a special moment ahead of some very commendable cycling efforts.

Some pics from today’s confirmation party. He’s also a saxophone player so I ended up combining these. Shot with R6 and 24-70mm and 50mm. ”Studio” is just collapsible backdrop and two godox flashes in the living room.

An interesting subject - who must be pleased with the results. This being our favourite.

A couple of photos taken last weekend.

Processed in B&W & Colour. My preferences are the B&W versions.

Hi se hafoc,

It's great to see the parade back in full swing after a short pause due to 'this and that'.

This is a terrific shot - well seen and caught.
