We are pleased to announce the release of YarcPlus V2.0 for Windows.

While there are many features that have been added since the last official V1.7 release, I will mention just 2 here in this post.

1 - YarcPlus now features PictureByPicture Conversion (PBPC). With PBPC, YarcPlus allows you to to adjust the parameter settings of each picture in the file list on a picture by picture basis. You can set the following picture settings individually for each picture in the file list and then convert them all at once with each picture being converted based on their own individual settings...

--White Balance including Picked White Point and Gray Card setting)
--Contrast (Not 1D)
--Saturation (Not 1D)
--Sharpness
--Sharpness Pattern (1D)
--Color Tone (D60)
--Exposure Compensation (D60 and 1D)
--Color Matrix (1D)
--Output Format
--Linear/Non-Linear
--False Color Filter (FCF)
--Artifact Reduction Filter (ARF)

We feel that this is a major step forward for YarcPlus and the Canon RAW community as it represents the ability to maximize an efficient workflow, as well as take advantage of the unique YarcPlus features such as ARF.

Details can be found in the release notes at the link below.

2 - ARF (Artifact Reduction Filter) exclusive to YarcPlus, is now available for use with Linear conversions. Many Canon RAW photographers convert exclusively with ARF, and now this proprietary technology is available for use with Linear conversions as well as Non-Linear conversions. (Note: Because most Linear Actions have sharpening steps within them, we recommend starting with ARF Mode1 for use with Linear work. ARF Mode1 does no additional processing beyond the reduction of the objectionable aritfactual noise within the digital image files).

Updated Release Notes for YarcPlus Version 2.0 are available at:

The V2.0 Release Candidate Version is now available and the final release will be available in a few days. This download will

upgrade existing users, and can also be run in free evaluation (demo) mode for new users...

Note that this is a free upgrade to all Registered YarcPlus users (Just download the new software. No need to reenter your registration key).

Because this new version of YarcPlus represents such a major step forward, we have established a new forum on our message board for questions and comments relating to Version 2.0. This is the link...

We hope that YarcPlus enhances your Canon RAW workflow.

Most excellent news. Should make batch-processing of a shoot go much more smoothly. (For those of us who don't get all our parameters exactly right the first time).

Now if I just had a camera that could deliver me 200 shots of in-focus pictures to bath! LOL.

Question: If I want to change ALL the pictures to a new white balance of say 3400K, do I have to do them all individually? Or is there a way to set all of them at once? And then still go in and individually adjust something like the exposure compensation? And then finally batch-process them.

One question, what is the difference between the Release Candidate that you released today and the final version you are releasing in a few days? If I install the release candidate, will I need to uninstall it and install the final version in a few days?

I've been playing around with the alpha and beta versions, and being able to adjust conversion parameters for each image is really pretty slick. I also really like being able to create a "gray card" from picked White Balance, and use this same setting for any other image in the batch.

This is a major improvement for working with Canon Raw files.

Congrats to Michael and Bruce.

Since you've had a chance to play with it, can you address the question I raised in my reply above to Michael?

David, you will have to do them individually ;)>

But all other YarcPlus users will be able to change the Kelvin for a few hundred shots in about 3 seconds (all at once), and then still go on to make any specific other adjustements that might be needed, on a PictureByPicture basis.

Or you can even do the opposite. You can have made many adjustments of all kinds on many different pictures, but still go in and change the WB on ALL of them to 3400K or anything else that you might want to do.

And I think we can let YOU do it this way as well > :)

Pretty much anything that you want to do can be done quickly and easily.

There's actually several options here:

You can create a "grey card" from the picked white balance from any image, and assign this to any image.

You can copy a set of parameters to the clipboard, and paste these to all of your images, or all the highlighted images. So you have excellent control, but don't have to do everything individually for each image.

It's really quite a versatile application.

That's the same as the TWAIN driver within Photoshop, then, as far as I can tell. Except it doesn't do ARF.

Well, and one other difference. ;)

Oh, and I bet YP can rotate a LOT faster than the TWAIN driver, too. LOL.

Can you tag an image with AdobeRGB98 ?

That would seem useful for when using Color Matrix 4.

I never got to play around with that when I tested it a while back. Probably because I was too dumb to figure it out - LOL.

Doug,

It is a fair question and I discuss it in the release notes, but let me answer it here. The software is done and tested. It has been through both alpha and beta tests both internally and externally. By many users, all working differently and having different adgendas.

So we have a release. There are a few things that i would like to squeeze inthere, and there are a few cosmentic nigs and things like in all software. So I had a choice. Do I call it V2.0 and then next week come out with a maintencance version called V2.0.1. or am I a little more honest and call this a Release Candidate which simple means that, this is ready to go, but there may be a thing or 2 (minor) that we may want to change, or maybe someone will discover a small bug that was not uncovered in testing.

So this tells people that there is no way for me to guanrentee a bug free release without atcually releasing it and having the masses try it. So I call it s Release Candidate so if someone is nervous they can wait, and if people want to dig right in they can.

So it is really a release, with an honest name.

if you installs the RC, you can probably just install the official release right over it. The offiicial relase mayhave a few small changes or it may just have the RC taken off. We will see.

I hope that this answers your question.

Enjoy.

You can assign any profile that you wish, but this is not one that you can assign on a picture by picture basis. You assign the profile for the entire batch.

We have been asked to be able to set a specfic profile based on the 1D Marix setting and that is on our wish list so that each matrix 2 would be assigned profile A and each matirx 4 picture would be assigned profile B. But not right now.

Typically I'd process an entire batch with the same Color Matrix (though I'm sure there'd be exceptions). So this shouldn't be a problem.

I know that Matrix 4 should probably be assigned AdobeRGB98 . . . but shouldn't the others simply be left unassigned? Am I missing something about Matrix 2 that I should be aware of?

I do not think it has anything todo with XP. it is probably a bug that was discovered and listed inthis post...

http://www.pictureflow.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=213

I will fix this and any other reported bus in an update either later or tomorrow. I actually has this on my list of tester bugs (when no Canon files in the source folder) but I missed it by accident.

Unlikely that YP can affect wallpaper etc...

Sorry you ha the problem

The individual picture settings are exactly what the doctor ordered - the whole process is now much more efficient - good job!

Just one minor UI wish - I like to use the full view mode with the profile so I can step through each pic and adjust params - but a checkbox on the toolbar (or params dialog) would be nice to easily select/deselect the pic when in that mode. Hardley a gripe - just a little thing I would like - the product overal is excellent!

Thanks Andy,

You can hit the space bar in View 5 (Picture View) and it will toggle the selected (chedked) and unselected state. And the state is reflected in the status bar. I think that is what you were looking for.

Enjoy..
