Agree on the shutter release being very mushy. I need to screw in a release button too, I think I have a few spares from my X-Pro3.Can i add something? (Got my X-T5 yesterday, latest model i have is the X-T3)
. compared to the X-T3, the X-T5 EVF has now low light, resolution, 100fps and 200fps modes.
. not liking the shutter button (have yet to install a soft release like on my X-T3, maybe that´s why), it feels really mushy and feels like it has 3 positions: pressing it down it stops almost undefinedly in a position that does nothing, then pressing in further it finally reaches the focusing position, followed by the shutter actuation.
I do wonder if this is an actual bug. The Fuji rep I was emailing seemed to indicate that it works like usual.Hmm, you're right, they describe it how it used to work. Not how it now works. I definitely found a specific instruction somewhere to press and hold both buttons... Maybe I googled it and found it on a forum somewhere!Wow thanks for pointing that out... Even after reading the section in the manual I didn't pick up on that. The manual says "The format menu can also be displayed by pressing the center of the rear command dial while pressing and holding the trash button". To me this seems like it would be the same as previous fuji bodies. I wonder why they changed it.They've changed how it works. Now you need to press and hold both buttons for a few seconds. This IS explained in the PDF manual for the X-T5, as that's how I found out how to do it after failing to use the old shortcut I'd used with my X-T3.Nope. Basically fresh out of the box. Strange... My rear dial is still set to focus check. In still mode with data on the card. No way to format :-|I just checked and it still works on mine :-DAnother thing I noticed, seems the shortcut for formatting a memory card is no longer working (hold trash can button, press rear command dial). Hopefully they toss this into a firmware update
Have you customized the rear dial by chance?
FYI Fuji email support pointed me to https://fujifilm-x.com/en-us/tech-time/ where you can set up a chat with a Fuji technical rep to chat about issues, using the camera, whatever. During my call the rep confirmed that the shortcut had changed, likely as a result of the H2 and H2s which do not have clickable rear dials. He was also generally surprised about it and hadn't heard anything about it before. Neat-o. On a side note, what a cool thing for Fuji to offer. Props to them for that, although I'm not sure I would have heard about it otherwise.Hmm, you're right, they describe it how it used to work. Not how it now works. TryAnyone figured out how to turn off the focus point grid? Moving the focus point makes all the focus points show up and you have to confirm the point before being able to take a photo. I remember on my XT4 when I moved the focus point the grid doesn't show up.

AF menu->AF POINT DISPLAY->OFF
and
Settings menu->BUTTON/DIAL SETTING->FOCUS LEVER SETTING->PUSH->CENTER
That’s odd because the points disappear on mine with those settings. That means there’s another setting(s) somewhere that affects its visibility. Hmmm… I’ll keep digging and maybe others will chime in, too.Thanks for the suggestion! It didn't work unfortunately. The pesky grey dots are still there when I move the joystick. I'm pretty sure I was able to turn it off on the XT4 but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it on the XT5.TryAnyone figured out how to turn off the focus point grid? Ive seen a bunch of YouTube videos people with xt3 etc, don't have the dots while moving the focus point.
Hmm, I've never not had the dots. I like having them as I use the centre column of dots to line up the centre of my shot. I guess there may be a way to remove them when moving the focus point around but would like to see any videos that suggest it's definitely possible before I lose my mind trying to make it work haha*Edit*TryAnyone figured out how to turn off the focus point grid? Thanks to your guidance I found it, it was Settings menu->BUTTON/DIAL SETTING->FOCUS LEVER SETTING->TILT->SELECTION.

Yeah, the name for that menu item definitely needs some workThanks to your guidance I found it, it was Settings menu->BUTTON/DIAL SETTING->FOCUS LEVER SETTING->TILT->SELECTION-> DIRECT AF POINT SELECTION.
This avoids the need to confirm where you want the focus point. Spent 5 hours trying to find it, I should have asked here first lol. Thanks guys.
Agree about the metering dial. I miss it.
- The Still/Movie switch is a waste for me. I really will miss the metering switch.
- The mechanical shutter is quiet. Much less noisy than the XT3. However, the provided sounds for the electronic shutter are still less than satisfying. I think I prefer the "tick" sound of the XE4 to the simulated mechanical shutter sounds offered on the XT5. For now, I've set it to OFF, but it only gives you a brief blackout period to indicate a shutter release. I think I'd prefer a blinking frame around the edge like some other cameras, or at least something a bit more pronounced.
- Some are reporting that their soft release buttons aren’t fitting the threads. I transferred my Fotodiox from the XT3 with no issues.
