XT2 dynamic range?

according to Bill Claff's analysis:

Hahaha. this Bill Claff's measurements are hilarious. Initially I thought he's extremely strict with the measurements. Af te r checking many cameras I am certain now, that his methodologies are just flawed.
How so?

After all is said and done and your photo is hanging on the wall, no one is going to know or care what camera, lens, or what post processing you used. All they care about is if the image moves them.

I think his methodology is OK if you take into consideration the caveats he has included in explaining his protocol. Claff is very clear that chart comparisons between brands is going to result in incorrect conclusions.

Bottom line, there is no standard in the digital age for ISO claimed, so if no corrections are made for exposure value variances based on ISO, you have no way to compare accurately. Only the baseline (maximum) DR will be comparable. Some say it doesn't matter as only base matters in the ISO-less era. (Widely debated.)

In general, cameras with Sony sensors (Fuji, Sony, most Nikons and most Pentax) will have similar DR - and a bit more than one stop difference favoring FF over crop sensors. Possibly Fuji indicates slightly lower, but the X-trans sensor array also tends to trick the eye into tolerating more noise in the shadows... At least that is my perception. This is where the human element of perception does not really translate into the measuring tool's calculation.

The Canon sensor technology is different, and frankly, a step behind in shadow noise suppression technology.

Bill Claif reads these fora and I have no doubt he'd be interested in seeing your measurements. PErsonally I've always found it safe to assume any post with "hahaha" in it isn't going to be helpful.
