Hello everyone,

I see that the "electronic level" function (checking the horizontality) is not working on my X10.
if i take a picture when the line is green , the photo is not horizontal!

Did you guys have the same problem?

So you're saying when you use it to take a landscape picture, it takes a portrait picture??

No .

I'm talking about the "virtual horizon" feature to avoid "tilted" photo when i'm shooting landscape.
(page 88 of owner's manual)

The level of my copy of the X10 works fine -- straight horizons.

I have exactly the same issue. I've switched it off as it's so bad. If I used the level I estimate my horizon would be 10 - 15 degrees off level.

I did have a X100 and the level on that was spot on. I bought the X10 last week and am considering sending it back, but am not sure it's worth the bother as I don't tend to use the electronic level anyway. It's switched off at the moment. It's just that I have the nagging doubt that if one thing is wrong with the camera other things may develop over time, I've had a X100 you see, and that was one fault after another!! That went back for a refund.

Unfortunately mine seems to be similar.

It's a great idea but needs to be adjustable to be workable.

Maybe one day...

Thinking about it I did try it once on one of my X10's and you could see that it was not correct just looking at the horizon in the LCD. Never thought to mention it as it's only a gimmick, I mean if you can't see the horizon or any vertical items are straight in the LCD your eyes need seeing too.

Mine's fine too.

Mine works just fine.

Which way does it slope? If always to the right it would be consistent with tilting the camera pressing the shutter?

Set the camera on a flat level surface checked with a spirit level, check the horizon says level and take a picture. If that is out then the camera has a problem, otherwise it is operator error.

mine works fine some of the time, I think the x-y axis might be iffy, that is if I set the camera vertical on a surface it is fine, if I'm holding it tilted a little (typically shooting the horizon) sometimes the horizon isn't level if I'm to judge by the level indicator.
I try to use the blue line most of the time anyway.

epo001 - What are you talking about!! The level works before the shot is taken by the user lining up two coloured lines; when they are aligned they overlap each other and also turn green. That indicates that you are then holding the camera level.

However in the faulty cameras, such as mine, when the lines meet and turn green the camera is FAR from level, it's about 15-20 degress from level. It's a fault of the camera not of the user.

Are you using the grid lines also? Obviously, the electronic level should be parallel to the grid lines. Are you seeing this on your LCD?

sounds like the accelerometer isnt calibrated correctly. Try resetting the camera.
