My D750 has WiFi, but in only allows communication with Nikon's own WMU app on iPhones and Android, although I'm sure hackers are working on breaking that protocol for general computer use. Apparently, the new D500 can do something similar with Bluetooth.

Here is a link for Eye Fi's direct mode:

CamRanger makes a device that works with a D300s (according to their website) for $300.

Solution
Thank you PenFix,
The device CamRanger seems to be a good solution.

Thank you Snow

I tried the Eye Fi system and I found it very complicated to implement. In particular I do not understand why it need constantly an internet connection

I'm not sure that's true. I use the Eye Fi software on an Android tablet, and it does not have an Internet connection while it communicates with my camera. It does have to be connected to the Eye Fi's Wi Fi hotspot.
