Why not use the power of social media?

I am a longtime Fujifilm user and member of http://www.fujimugs.com where I have shot with Fujifilm cameras for years. After a decline in your product line I became concerned that Fujifilm was taking a direction that I was not going in. In fact I had to go to another vendor for my DSLR. I was pleased to see a rejuvenation of the Fujifilms product line. The introduction of the X100 made me really want a Fujifilm camera again as have all your new “X” cameras. I have not purchased any “X” camera yet! Why? Well let’s see I have not ever seen an X100 in any store, they were unavailable the entire time folks were finding all the issues with it that finally put me off the X100 entirely … not to mention the painful wait beforehand. Your X10 arrived with the most serious image quality issue I have yet seen in a new camera, the “orb” issue. I am not even looking at your X line now as a first purchase. I am waiting for them cheap second hand. If Fujifilm wants my business again it needs to address the current X line and resolve the issues and then needs to not use the public as beta testers and put out finished products.

I too don't understand why all the X-camera owners haven't banded together and gone after Fuji in a big way. Individual complaints will only go so far and will probably get a standard response, but they will have to address the problem if everyone got on a Social Media site and complained about the problem with photos to back the claim.
I have earlier suggested using social medias in a more aggressive way to get more exposure e.g. on the X10, but many people seem to believe more in personal communication with Fujifilm - something I find hard to believe.

Years ago Dell found themselves in a scenario not that different to what Fujifilm is going through. At that time author and journalist Jeff Jarvis was so frustrated with Dell that he on his own created "Dell Hell" by posting a personal blog entry titled " Dell Sucks! ". This started off some blog avalanche effect towards Dell - one they had absolutely no control over. The story is quite interesting and led to a much more caring and listening Dell with far more interaction towards customers.

Have a look at these two - could be a way of gaining traction with Fujifilm:

Good start. But I was thinking more on the lines of a Facebook Fan (or non-fan) page created by X-camera users rather than posting on Fuji's Facebook page, which THEY control.

Some of us would like to discuss gear - the purpose of this forum.
So, could we not get back to the point and take personal attacks and product complaints elsewhere?
Er, I do think that product complains are also part of discussing gear. I understand and agree on not wanting to read personal attacks, but you cannot discount negative remarks on products on gear-centric forums.

The purpose of this forum isn't solely restricted to backslapping a manufacturer. This should also be a venue to discuss flaws and problems with cameras.
